wherever or whomever you trust. i would say about an hours labor would be the charge at most.

I can throw it up on the lift and check it out for ya.
I'm a ex-Gm tech so Gm's are my specialty along with being able to repair/diagnosis just about any other car out there.
I'm about 1/2hr. from you.
Or you can go see my friend Kevin. (jeff's budget brakes & mufflers across from pats pizza)
pm me for mine or Kev's #. Kevin is usually really booked up but he could probably squeeze you in.
note:Kevin is like the einstein of mechanics,gm a-tech also, nobody around here can do what he can do. (known him for over 10yrs.)

i didn't see any tsb's that jumped out. make sure it gets in and out of 4wd, i think 4lo makes a little pop noise so don't be too alarmed. check it for tune up, see if it has original wires and plugs. wires would be #ed ac delco's and plugs would be delco's with a little paint on the end. see if the waterpump was ever replaced. check the front end for tightness, the hub bearings seem to wear out most often. make sure the pitman arm and idler arm are tight. check the p/s for leaks. see if the intake is leaking any. thats about all i can think of. really just look for everything wrong with it, don't look at it as my new pimpmobile, you could overlook something that will cost ya lots.

TSB'S?
TSB = technical service bulletin. Kinda like a recall but not official. Warns of what might be problem areas type of thing

gear boxes tend to go also. So if you have some slope in the wheel but the front end is tight probably the box. Pain in the dick when you have to the center the wheel for an alighnment.

Ok so independant inspection went well. owner went with me and the mechanic asked him some questions even down to asking price and mechanic said it was a good buy.
only think that the mechanic thought was iffy was the trans fluid wasnt as red as he would hae liked. Now the owner has the service records from the 60k tune up and shows a trans flush. Guy in the shopsaid they might not have run the machine long enough to get the old gunk out. He said it shifted great and wouldnt worry about it too much. How do you guys feel about that advice?
