Yeah, since you don't have a carb to deal with on an 85 IROC

You have to understand that the eBay listing cost almost $253,731.12. To offset that cost, it is easy to see why the price went UP! Plus once he pays off the commission and the PayPal fee, the poor guy will be left with nothing . On a serious note, I think all the signatures detract from the car. I would love to own something like that (for a LOT LESS) without the signatures and what the hell would happen IF you somehow got into a fender bender. Of course you couldn't drive ANY classic car with 734 miles without starting to ruin its value. So it becomes a USELESS IROC with a story.

Without the signatures I'd put that car at 50k with that mileage. The signatures are a big deal since that was a huge concert in the 80s.

I would argue to say its the biggest concert OF ALL TIME. It is still regarded as a culturally significant event all over the world.

BonzoHansen
01-14-2010, 08:53 PM
Yeah, Live Aid was quite the event Huge.

I agree, those signatures raise the value of that car a lot. That is art now, no longer a car. Sadly. I'd love to have that car sans the ink.

I have seen several 3rd Gen Firebird Formulas with mileage around 1K and in showroom condition (plastic still on console and such) only get bid up to less than $7,000 and asking around $15,000 for a Buy it Now price. Even the late '80's GTA, which were the HOTTEST F-Body you could buy then do not get prices above that (in Mint Condition). If you owned one of those during that time period, you were King of the Hill in terms of performance and looks. Just imagine a Charcoal Grey exterior with the Saddle Leather interior and Gold Diamond spoke wheels with gold badges. But I digress, they were the pinnacle of design at a different era and time.

I was rolling my eyes reading through the ad with the "probably" word used a few times...yeah "probably" doesn't sell a $275K car...then I saw the signatures and was like shaaaawiiiiing.

I would not open that can of worms. There is a LOT that's involved in proving that something was truly factory vs. hearsay.

:bs: Show me a FACTORY 85 Fbody and a L98/B2L RPO code or ANY FACTORY L98/T5 thirdgen....everyone seems to know someone who had one or knows a cousin's, roommates, dentist who talked to a guy who knew a drug dealer that had one. I've been involved in turdgens for over 12yrs now and have debunked EVERY single L98/T5 claim. I've yet to see an RPO sheet that shows that combo.

That is a pity. That would be 1/10th of what is acutally involved in proving something like this to be true.

Sorry man, it's not that I'm saying you're lying but to not only take the phantom combo of a L98/T5 but to throw in that it's an '85 when the only documentation was a few test mules in '86...I don't know....

So NastyEllEssWon, that means proof or STFU on this topic.

It's as stupid as the idiots that think there was 1 1975 Z28 because they might have built a single test car. That does not count!

WildBillyT

If you want a rough story, take a look at the L89 1970 Nova.

1.) Had a resto by the "Dream Car Garage" crew up in Canada
2.) Had a correct drivetrain except for possibly "incorrect" heads
3.) Has a protect-o-plate
4.) Has the correct coded block
5.) Has all the original running gear

Is considered one of none due to no doc by GM, and the fact that the plant mgr at Tonawanda said FU we never made one.

These days pretty much any and all paperwork and ID stampings are forged, to the point where people call in forensic scientists to lift numbers off of engine blocks. The fact that the RPO sheet is considered 100% valid and a deciding factor is laughable.

ive heard claims of factory 350/t5 cars for over a decade now. I have never came across a legit one nor seen proof of one, nor cut one up.

What I HAVE seen were cars that were brand new bought from dealerships with a 350 and then had a t5 trans DEALER INSTALLED and still sold "NEW". Some paperwork says 350/T5, but it only goes as far back as to the dealer.
