'Tis very sad but nothing new. I love driving stick. I've driven 13,000 lb Internationals in traffic and didn't mind it one bit.

It's really a shame. I feel that most "fun-to-drive" cars, including our fbodies, should have been exclusively offered in only Standard--with a small percentage of automatics. But, when it comes down to it, buyer demand is what drives manufacturers' decisions. The majority of people just don't care for it anymore.
When I was looking for a LS1, the price difference between equal mileage 4L60E & T56 cars were in the thousands, making a T56 unattainable with my budget.

Same here. I love the 6 speed in my T/A. I'm driving my parents' cars right now since I'm in the middle of a motor swap and I absolutely can't stand auto. Every car i buy will be manual.

it depends on the car. i prefer my fun cars to be manual and my daily drivers to be auto.

I wouldn't trade my manual 6spd for anything. To me, its one of the appealing features of the car! I had in auto Z before this car and its like night and day. My A4 Z was no where near as fun to drive on a daily basis as my M6 SS!

I actually feel safer in a Manual for some reason.Maybe cause i feel like im driving the car instead of the car driving me

Yet there are some people who would say that the current paddle shifters on the steering wheel are the way to go. When I was selling 67-69 GTO's, one of the coolest ways to shift an automatic was with the Hurst Dual-Gate set-up. You could manually shift and slam the lever just like a stick, grab a chirp from 1st to 2nd:drive: and downshift also. It gives you the best of both worlds, just consider being stuck on the Parkway in the summer with a stick, not too much fun. Just my :2cents:

its not fun.. go down the shore on any summer day after 8am and you will feel the pain...
but its the ONLY downdside for me.... still making it a landslide victory ... i have both and the m6 is not my dd maybe that why tool... but i do the clutch thing sometimes too in my e30 and get confused esp when i go right from one car to the other..
like when i play tetris in my drive way to put the cars in the right spots. lol

My truck is auto and I'm missing the six speed big time. In fact, I'm missing having a car big time. Trucks are nice, but their slow, big, and a pain in the ass to park. I actually enjoy driving my girlfriends 2000 5 speed v6 eclipse because it's as close as I can get right now to the Trans am.

Automatics are better than they have ever been. I prefer the consistency of an Automatic. Also I think its much easier to service an auto trans car than a Manual. Manual transmissions still have their place though.

never had a stick... and i have no desire to get one... maybe after i can actually dedicate a car to strickly fun use... my TA is an auto, with the gears and a tune it chirps 2nd, and if in the mood i can pretend its a stick... same goes for the vette, it just needs a tune badly

Honda accord can chirp second, with no mods. What's your point?

Autos are nice in a daily unless the gas mileage difference is worth it... A stick is more fun to drive in a truck and car, auto is just easy to not have to deal with. Like pulling a boat up a ramp from a dead stop, or sitting at a traffic light that your facing up hill on, auto please!

i miss the t56 in the TA so much, but with my knees when i got stuck in traffic i absolutely hated it... but the pain for the next couple days was worth it especially when i hit my next 2-3 powershift

i used to be all "manuals 4 lyfe" when i was 17 or 18. But i def prefer auto now. The only time i want to shift is if i have a car that sounds good and is loud. Otherwise auto all the way, esp for drag racing! Id rather even have an auto ls1 f bod than a t56. I just like having to worry about one pedal ;)
