i know some of you guys might bust on me because its not a camaro but who cares lol. just wanted to share some pics of the intake that i fabbed up this weekend since i didnt feel like dropping the $300+ that an aftermarket setup would run me. so for $30 i got me a nice little setup going on.
here are the pics and a quick video.(i havent had a chance to clean the intake tubes up yet.)
stock before shot.

Wasn't the idea to get a car you wouldn't touch/spend money on as a daily driver?
Nice job on the intake.

its got an intercooler. just not a big one lol.
just doing basic stuff that will not void my warranty. intake exhaust and some minor exterior items. not going crazy but i want it to have some stuff.

sucks more air lol. i was actually surprised at how much more torque i felt with just a basic intake.

... nice set-up, but you know for know you say its only intake and exhaust, soon it will be wheels and tires, then bigger turbo...

Maybe you guys can help me with a question?
Why do FWD intakes almost always keep the filter element in the hot engine bay? I have only seen a handfull that put the filter in the fender or include some sort of "wall" to keep the heat away from the filter.

If your referring to the Genesis in this thread it is rwd.

hey paul. that black tubing that humps over the intake pipe is an intercooler pipe lol. and as far as any shielding or what not to keep engine heat away. im only dont the fabbing of the intake itself. most of the intakes for the genesis go for $300+ so far im only at $29 once i get some more free time(working 2 jobs and getting ready to move makes it tough) ill fab up some kind shielding for the filter.
and just to give some of you a quick idea. this is one of the cheaper priced short ram kits for the turbo coupes. i cant justify spending that money on something soo simple as a filter and 90 degree pipe. and mine flows better than a standard short ram because i fabbed up a pipe also going to the turbo.

but over all i think it turned out pretty damn good for an hours worth of work so far. ill be doing minor things to it to clean the look of the intake up.
ah ok i thought that was coolant hoses, lol.

Scion TC is an exception..dont know about other FWD cars. it goes all the way into the driver side fender.. here is a pic of the K&N intake on my girlfriends TC..
