My mom just called and said they had a tree knocked down onto the house by the high winds. The whole root ball just pulled out of the ground and it's resting across the roof of the garage from the back all the way over the front of the house. Sounds like it's going to be a fun cleanup job. Normally they need to worry about the power going out and the sump pump keeping the basement dry.

Tell them to get a Basement Watchdog. 2 pumps and a battery backup.

They have a backup system with battery and a generator in the garage with an extension cord that runs to the pump in the basement. They got hit a couple of years ago when power went out for a day and they weren't home that night when the battery backup ran out of power so the basement got about 6" of water and ruined a lot of stuff.

I just got done clearing a big dead branch out of the road in front of our house.

Just got home from a family party in Clinton. Tons of branches down, rivers already rising quick, and they crest 24 hours after rain stops! Had to take a few detours due to police roadblocks. We also have a big evergreen uprooted and saw several piles of wood where the trees blocked the road.

Trying to get to jens house this afternoon. I seen one tree resting agaist the power lines. I don't know how they weren't ripped down. So I seen a state cop five miles later cleaning debrit from the road so I told him about it.

Then went to go on a backroad through bass river and tree down right in the middle of the road.

The little side path that runs along the road was flooded. I did line my truck up with it and think about it for a minute. But decided to just turn around and get back on the main road. I could have made it but its just as easy to go around.

Grand Parents had about 5 inches of water in their basement at about 11:30 last night before we called it quits. On the way home my mom goes "this is where the" SPLASH "puddle is" and the car died and wouldn't start. I saw the puddle but it sure didn't seem that deep... Oh well I hated that car anyway, Hopefully it will be a cheap fix and Ill trade it in for something nice.

any serious damgage?

I don't think it's too bad. The smaller branches helped absorb the impact I think.

Duke Island Park is under water up to Old York Rd. The bridge on Old York road can't even be seen through the river.
