I am a little Hesitant in entering this discussion. I can no longer drive on the road for sometime due to medical reasons and thats why i sold my camaro. I had the black with gold stripes 95 Z28. I have come to enjoy cars very much and i was wondering your opinion on my idea of buying an f-body fixing it up a little and then selling it making a little profit or just breaking even. I am open to all ideas, comment, or suggestions. Thank you in advance

Its hard to make money on f-bodys in short periods of time unless you can get a real good deal. Theres just too many out there. For the most part its hard to increase the value of an f-body except for complete restoration, which even then could be a lot of work for nothing.

You could end up tying up $5000 for a year and see no return on it, while if you put it in a cd or even look into some type of investment you will see a much greater return.

Sometimes you can get a car missing a motor or with a bad transmission which is in otherwise great shape. These cars you may be able to make a couple bucks on, but still there is a lot of time you would need to invest.

economy isn't much help. really gotta know what to look for and have access to any tools, knowledge, or parts you may need. insuring and registering a vehicle just to sell it isn't much help either

It is very hard to sell a car for profit of what you put into it.

lol or i could do the exact opposite, beat the car up and sell it for more than i bought it lol. i broke three things that would cost $500 to repair and i sold the car for 4,400; 400 more that i bought it for

Very true.

You wont make the money back that you put into them. Especially an F-body. Now, if you were to do this with say, late 80's/early 90's imports and 4banger domestics I.E Civic, Accord, Integra, Cavalier.... you may make a few bucks. For instance, a buddy of mine used to look primarily for these types of vehicles that could be had for around $500. They needed a real good cleaning, inside and out, and maybe a couple cheap parts.. he would fix em up real nice, and sell them for up to $1k more. And he was doing at most 3 cars a month. Maybe because we live by Dover NJ, where low income immigrants dwell in masses, and they look for these types of reliable vehicles

buy a totaled car and part it out, best way to make money in these cars IMO.. guy who bought my roller probably made a pretty penny

I am disagreeing with people saying that you can't make much off an F Body. I had this conversation yesterday with a fellow car fan, how often do you see a car, younger owner, breaks something stupid, and decides to just say the hell with it and sell it dirt cheap just to get rid of it? I can tell you that I have done this with f bods and you can definitely make a little money, bring back to life a car you love, and have fun doing it. I have done both, brought them back to life, and parted them out. There is a buyer out there for any part you are willing to sell, you just need to be patient if you go that approach.

i just saw a local 89 RS for sale for 8500... people think these cars are worth way more than they really are. that was a $1800 car at best IMO
