not sure how an escalade is one of the worst in the safety department considering it has 30 bagillion air bags. trust me i counted them.....twice.
i also dont get how if they werent rated... they got the worst rating... there also isnt much to the whole story just random CR rating... bs in my opinion

I find it suspicious most of those cars are American brand.

I dont read dribble crap like that, same as R&T, C&D, etc. It's all based on opinions, like when they proclaimedthe Nissan GTr was a better buy and value then a Corvette Z06, not long afte the trans problms arose and warrenty issues. then a couple months later they leakedthe price of the trans fluid at $115 qt...........yeah better value :rollseye:

If you read the article on how they determined what is the worst, its a total joke. Has more to do with fuel economy than quality build.

I find it suspicious that its all about how these american trucks/cars (which are for the most part reliable to the genral public) ended up on the worst made list. And then out of nowhere it mentions "Toyota and Lexus both were fairly steady on their quality."
From what I have heard the Tundra has had a whole bunch of recalls, besides just the gas pedal deal. I see ZERO tundras being used as work trucks with the majority of fleet/work trucks being GM and Ford. How can the F250 make this list I don't get it. Since there is mention of Toyota for no aparent reason I am suspecting that the toyota PR team is at it again.

Yea, apparently the F-250 is not rated, among the worst in safety. Coulda fooled me.

For what it's worth, I'd rather have 10 recalls on little stuff like steering wheel radio controls and power seat switches than a single recall related to brakes, throttle, or frame integrity.

I'm still wondering where they come up with these numbers and why it's purely the Big Three...

The article is pretty funny. The tests focused on, "predicted reliability, fuel economy, depreciation, ride, owner costs, accident avoidance, front-seat comfort, acceleration and owner satisfaction." However, the article starts out saying, "If you want to drive something dependable and long-lasting, steer clear of these vehicles."
Since when do fuel economy, depreciation, ride, front-seat comfort, acceleration and owner satisfaction have anything to do with being "dependable and long-lasting?"
Gotta love it.
For the record, I'll take any of those cars over this any day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbVFWnJg22M

Pick one source and they'll tell you one thing, pick another for something different all together.

Safety isn't rated in the link that you posted. I meant the number thing, I didn't feel like reading the article. I didn't read the other one either, just saw that GM lost money again.

How is safety not rated? The entire article is about safety.
How is safety not rated? The entire article is about safety.
1. US News Scores lists "NA" for safety, while listing every other number.
2. The article says that "The Escalade has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety".
3. Side note, how come when I add the numbers in the "scores" section I get an average of 8.375 and not 8.8?

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/100407/business/us_auto_company_gm_earnings
The 4.3-billion-dollar loss for the period of July 10 through December 2009 was primarily due to one-off charges recorded in the fourth quarter: a 2.6-billion-dollar settlement loss related to the United Auto Workers union retiree medical plan and a 1.3-billion-dollar loss related to foreign exchange rates.
Not to mention the money they are spending to wind down production / sales / (marketing?) of 4 brands.

I don't see an F250 avoiding anything but I'm willing to bet you'll survive better in that than a smart car

ohhhhhh that's what you mean by "the number thing" in your previous post
sure, understandable.
edit: btw I filled in a perfect 10 for the missing safety and it still doesn't go past 8.72 LOL

CR was caught giving Toyota great ratings based on prior vehicles. They even issued a statement saying so, and that they will have to review some of the newwer Toyota's like the Camry, Corolla, and faulty Tundra on top of the Sienna's with the delaminating doors.
This was BEFORE the whole SUA problems.
