View Full Version : What size are the trans oil cooler lines?

Need to modify the trans oil cooler lines. Want to change the factory 18" or so rubber hose to about 30" so I can run the hose out of the way of the new dual remote engine oil filters.

What size is the trans line? ID? OD? I would like to use a compression fitting with a hose barb end at both the trans line near the cross member, and at the radiator.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome!

Thanks

Mark.

5/16. OD I believe.

Thanks! I measured the top line where it enters the radiator. But in the poor light of the garage, and without glasses, it looks like either 1/4 or 5/16. Can't tell for sure. Will have to go look for 1/4 and 5/16 open end wrenches to see if they fit right.

Thanks again!

Mark

This was my thread on dealing with the trans lines and fittings. I measured the OD of the lines to be 0.315"

Thanks for the link. Good info.

I think I will just flare the lines where they get cut off (near the cross member), and bend over a a 90 degree angle toward the passenger side. That way the flare will make for a tight seal, and the hoses can't blow off. Anyway, that's what B&M says to do.

Advance has the flair tool and benders for just a few bucks. Will check them out when I get the poly bushings.

if they rent a hydraulic flaring tool, do that. save your wrists/palms.
