Ok having trouble with a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Yesterday it started great and drove to the store however when my sister came out from the store to drive it home it wouldn't start. I checked the fluids and she was extremely low on oil so I added 3 quarts. Then I started it and held it at 1500 for a few mins and it then stayed running. Drove it around that night and this am seemed fine. Today my sister calls me saying it wont start again and now even holding it at 1500 wont keep it running.

Any ideas?

I was thinking IAC, Fuel Pump?

what kind of not starting issue is it? turning over slowly? turning over like normal just not firing up? whats the mileage and tune up items that have been done recently? this is the I6, correct?

no check engine light... I ran it anyway and it just said 55 which is its done running the test.

Its starts right up and dies and Starts up and dies. If you hold it at 1500 rpms it stays on but when you let go it dies. Eventually it does start up and runs until randomly it just shuts off.

Its a 5.2L V8

just had a oil change thats about it...just bought it not that long ago.

just got it running again and now its idle is kinda bouncing.

Sounds like its gonna die then goes up...over and over.

can you read data stream? access to a fuel pressure gauge? try unplugging the MAF and see if it holds an idle? could be iac like you are thinking though. maybe take the throttle body off and spray some carb cleaner through it.

yea no access to any tools at the moment since its at my college parking garage. This weekend im gonna have to get it up and see whats up. Ill see about unplugging the MAF.

the weird part was when the idle was surging it was not reading it on the RPM gauge. I can only hear the motor doing it.

Verify the battery is good - my wife's Liberty would do the same thing when the battery tanked. Have it tested, or swap in another battery and see how it runs.
