I love that place! Great pics! I want to go back there so bad. Do they still offer the optional overnight visit? I know they used to do it a few years ago.

No guided tour. They have an audio tour which I declined and just walk around. Overnight stay would be sweet

They dont allow kids under 10 yrs because there is lead paint. We were unable to tour it because we had our 4yr old daughter with us.

Yep, the first one they did was before they had the show. I met them at a seminar they did in south jersey back in like '03 or '04 and they were talking about Eastern State.

Looks like something straight out of your worst nightmare! I can just see Freddie Kruger jumping out from behind one of thos doors. You couldn't pay me enough to spend a nite there ALONE in one of those cells:rofl:. Just imagine what it must have been like when it was a working prison. What is the history of that place?

Depends on how many cars show up. Parking is pretty tight around there and that parking lot they have fills up pretty quick!

99.9999214589% never-ever. I guess I need to leave a minute opening. But NJ only is part of the monthly meet criteria

What if we rent a helicopter and lower ourselves into the prison, that way we don't have to touch Pennsyltucky ground?

They have a pretty big parking lot next to it. I'm using a rebel xti with a sigma 18-250 lens. Non of them photos are edited which Im proud of I've been getting alot better but need more practice with the new lens. I know alot of my pics are dark but I like them like that adds to the natraul light of the place

its not too dark if there's still detail.. I don't think any of them are too dark that are posted, and the natural lighting looks fantastic. If you ever have any photography related questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.. I'm not an expert, but I have a piece of paper that says I should be ;)

That's a very important thing to note. NEVER park off the prison parking lot. If you park in any of the parking lots for any of the stores around it they wait for you to walk away from the car then call a tow truck and have your car impounded. When I went there for Halloween one year with about two dozen people from work we came out and five of our cars had been towed.

This parking lot is one you pay by the hour. I was there for four hours and it cost 8 bucks. I went there sunday so it was cloudy off and on so the lighting would change in front of your eyes. Gave me a lot of practice with my manual shots and not allowing the camera to do any auto stuff. Im sure ill pm you with questions. Me and my mommy just got big into it lol. She thought a lot of my pics were dark but shes old haha
