If I were to swap out the old intake manifold, carb and distrib with a non-cc carb and distributer which setup would be recommended. Has anyone done this before and what did you use or what would work? It would be for 87 z28 305 w/t5 trans 3.73 posi. Thanks!

For you? Probably an Edelbrock performer, Holley 600VS, and an HEI.

Thanks for the info. I believe the quadrajet on it now has vacuum secondaries. Would that be because the stock gears were larger? They were like 2.29s or something horrible like that

Not really. It is an emissions/economy carb from the factory.

In high school I had a 1986 z/28 with the LG4 305 and t5. I swapped to an older style (non cc) hei distributor, performer rpm intake manifold, and 1406 edelbrock vs carb. I did have stock gears though (cant remember what they were). This set up worked great and I would recommend it to anyone. You may see a benefit from a mechanical carb. I would stay in the 600 cfm range though.

Yea, I was told by a tech from Jegs that this dizzy will work MSD 121-8362. And I already have the performer 2104 manifold. My brother has three carbs, just gotta see what they all are and if one of them will work.
