Damn, that's crazy!! I was right around the corner from there 2 weeks ago, and that area is packed with tourists going to Broadway and off-Broadway shows. That would've been very ugly had that thing actually gone off. Props to the NYPD and that street vendor for noticing it in time!

wtf is wrong with people in this world to make them do crap like this... I mean really! If the world is that bad for you just go kill your self, why do they have to try and hurt thousands of others. Thank god that vendor seen it and the NYPD sprang into action quick enough. There is supposedly like thousands of cameras in the area so hopefully there is a good chance they can ID the guy who did this.

true, but they dont know who did this yet... and the bomb they described seemed a little primitive for what the taliban use these days. Only reason i think its just some crazy. He may be acting in the name of ALLAH!!! though, hopefully they catch him/them who did this so we can know.
i believe my friend was there at some point last night. just read a comment about it on facebook...
is it bad i get my current events info from facebook??

Yep, there are traffic cameras, police cameras, the stationary news traffic/weather cameras, MTV has outdoor cameras on Times Square, and a lot of businesses have outside security cameras right there too. I'm sure they're looking at his picture as we speak.

iReporter Matthew Derby was vacationing in New York from Hawaii when he witnessed the Times Square evacuation and ongoing investigation of the car bomb found at the scene.
