View Full Version : Moser 9" clearance issues

I recently installed a moser 9" on my 98 ta and it has some clearance issues where the top of the rear where the torque arm mounts. Has anyone had similar problems? I talked to ttp and they said I could just bang it out and clearance it. What have you guys done if you've had problems?

I also have a Moser 9inch. I had to hammer the under side of the car to keep the torque arm form hitting body. The Fab 9's dont have this problem since they dont use that goofy torque arm braket that the regular moser 9 does. Hammer away my friend :lol:. Or you could just go over some really big bumps and let it clearence it self :wink:

yea a umi oneI had to use the outer set of holes on the mounting bracket on my S60. Had to notch/remove one of the inner holes to clear the housing. It afforded me enough room so I didn't have to hammer in the tunnel.

I had a problem with my UMI non adjustable one. I couldn't get it to slide in to place at all, yet the stocker would go on without a problem. I ended up getting a BMR adjustable one and still had to do some work on it to clearance it. Don't be afraid to cut the flange at the end of the torque arm. The 9in housing is bigger than the stock housing and some torque arms need to be clearanced to work with the moser. I spoke with both a Moser rep. and a UMI rep on the phone, and they both said sometimes it needs to be done.

are you talking about the big bolt on top of the housing where the torque arm bracket bolts to the housing itself? that bolt punched a hole in the floor of my car behind the rear seat, its kinda self clearancing

as for the torque arm itself, i have a UMI one and it lightly rubs the side of the tunnel, not biggie
