Im stuck between a spec stage 2 and a centerforce dual friction. Which one do you guys recommend? Also should i replace the slave/master cylinder and rear main seal?

i do not recommend a centerforce clutch. never had any experiences with a spec. theres been a ton of threads over clutches on this site...the search button is a good start
and before anyone else says it......ive heard good things about josh's clutches

I've heard bad things about Spec on LS1.com ive heard good things about the LS7 clutch kit.. that may be where im headed
and Ive also read to change ur slave while your down there...might as well do the master too so ur good to go

i liked the ls7 clutch that was in my t/a. really smooth, easy to push down and a nice engage point. its probably one of the nicer clutches ive ridden in terms of driveability. having an ultra stiff clutch is bad for someone like me with a bad knee
out of those two clutches id rather go with an OEM or stock style clutch (ls7).

The Spec stage 2 is not a bad choice. I just installed one in a 98 TA and I honestly can't say anything bad about it. Give me a call/pm if you're looking for an install quote.

I just installed a stage 2 clutch from Diamond Clutches. Its rated to stand up to 600 rwhp and is still easy on the clutch pedal. I have it in my ride and I must say I am in love with it. I have had the Spec 2, Spec 3, LS6, CenterForce dual friction and none compare to this one. Right from the get go absolutely no chatter, and I fried my tires at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. None of my other clutches have done that. He also has his own Master clutch cylinder cheaper then the Tick one. Either way I recommend you change it when you switch clutches to be safe.

I had a spec stage 3 in my V6 firebird and it was awesome. I made 370rwhp and 430rwtq and it was fine with that. Easy to drive but when you beat the hell out of the car it held great! I put about 75,000 miles on it!
I have a Spec Stage 2 plus in my 02 WS6. It is not as good as my Stage 3 was. I installed it at 58,000miles and now the car has 92,000 miles. It grabs good but I need to remove it to resurface the flywheel! If I did it again I would have gotten the stage 2 or stage 3. When I got the stage 2 + I had a set of LS6 heads and a 228r cam along with my nitrous kit off my V6 I was going to use! Then the baby came and I just wanted a reliable car so I put an extended warrenty on it and sold all the parts! The cluch is def overkill for a pretty much stock LS1!
Maybe it was just me, but i hated my Spec, i have a Textralia now, i love it.
