announced last year he was suffering from stomach cancer, passed this morning at 7:45. For anyone who doesn't recognize the name, he sang in Rainbow, Sabbath, and his own band Dio.

Nooooooooo. I am sad. Dio rocked. They were booking dates in December, I thought he had it beat. They just canceled those dates 2 weeks ago, and he released this statement: "I would like to voice my great disappointment on the cancellation of the Heaven And Hell summer tour. Wendy, my doctors and I have worked so hard to make it happen for all of you, the ones we care so much about, that this set back could be devastating, but we will not let it be. With your continued love and support, we... will carry on and thrive. There will be other tours, more music, more life and much more magic. RONNIE JAMES DIO"
Go buy Live at Hammersmith Odeon from rhino. Once you hear RJD sing War Pigs you'll think it was his song.
RIP RJD

He was 67. He did what he loved right to the end. In a way that is awesome.
I'm so glad I saw Heaven & Hell at Radio City a few years ago. They shot a DVD there It was great.

yea they rocked live a year or two ago when i saw them with judas priest at pnc. damn
The loss of a legend... very sad to see. I was able to catch Dio live back in 2003 during a tour with Motorhead & Iron Maiden, absolutely phenomenal show. He was a great vocalist, frontman, and always an entertaining interview. I'm wishing I caught him with Black Sabbath during one of the Heaven & Hell shows the last couple of years. May he rest in peace...

Rainbow is one of my all time favorite bands. The first 3 albums with Dio on vocals are some of their best stuff

Sucks I never got to see Rainbow or Dio. I did see him live with Sabbath twice though. Not a fan at all but still was a good thing to see him.
