Cam swap parts

Ok, I'm doing my cam swap soon and I was wondering what you guys think of these parts. I'm going with lloyd elliots .592 112 LSA cam.(95+ opti and timing chain cover swap), my springs are already upgraded and the pushrods are upgraded as well.

Howards lifters..I want to go with ones with link bars because I had that metal piece that holds down the lifter guide plates bend and destroy a lifter.

You want to use a set of overkill $390 lifters instead of using $120 LS7s because you don't have the retainer (which is $12 from the dealer)?

EDIT x2: Use the Cloyes 3145/3146. I wouldn't trust a $48 timing set. The Cloyes includes a billet steel cam gear - the Lunati is iron.

No, I have the retainer, its just that the previous one bent and caused the guideplate to bounce around and turn my lifter which wiped out my motor, now I'm worried of that happening again

Weird, what do you plan on spinning your motor too?

Mine shifts round 6500 and I have no problems with the stock tray and LS7 lifters.

And I really like my pro gear single roller timing set, tis a nice sturdy timing set.

Probally to around 6800ish, Lloyd elliots cam is good up to 6600, but I can never get a shift exactly at the end of the power band

7k is the limit for the stock PCM.

You should have no problem with the stock tray and the lifter bars. I have LS7s and my OEM tray and I'm spinning to 7k. You're being paranoid. :)

Ah ok, I was thinking backwards.

Check the spring pressure rates for the springs you have and check what the required spring pressure rates are for the cam you're installing and make sure they match up. Too lose and you'll float a valve and too tight and you'll wear out your cam lobes prematurely.

On gmpartsdirect it says $35 bucks for LS7 lifters, I'm guessing thats correct for all 16, if so I'm definatly getting them:nod:

The $35 is for ONE lifter. The part number for a set of 16 is 12499225.
