do you have any idea how fast he would have to be going to end up on a roof?

Why is that people feel the need to act like he deserves it for going that fast? Members on this board break 100mph all the time this can happen to alot of us.

RIP Shaun

no one is saying that, its just the fact that if you are going those speeds you accept the responsibility and consequences that come with going that speed. you can expect to keep sticking your hand in the snake cage without getting bit one time. the fact that he accepted the responsibility and consequence that comes with going that fast and paid the price for it why some dont feel bad for him.

Eh seems like the people who lack empathy are the ones who have their noses high as if they've never broken the speed limit. Regardless of how fast he was going it's still sad that he lost his life. Sucks to die so young.

i feel more empathy for the family and loved ones in this situations beings it seems that he was out driving while emotional over the loss of his brother to cancer. seemed he died doing what he loved in the car he loved....we should all be so lucky

If you are breaking "100mph all the time" you are doing it wrong. The way you put it makes it sounds like a regular occurrence. Maybe I read that wrong. I certainly don't. I'm not saying I never have, I did all sorts of stupid **** when I was a kid that in retrospect I realize was totally stupid.

Eh seems like the people who lack empathy are the ones who have their noses high as if they've never broken the speed limit. Regardless of how fast he was going it's still sad that he lost his life. Sucks to die so young. It does suck. I feel bad for his family. It's very sad. But based on his cool little “look at me I do 160” and that he launched a 4000 pound car onto the roof of a commercial building (so 25’+ in the air?) tells me we are just lucky he didn’t kill anyone else in his apparent childish escapades. Posting your car at 160 - really 160? What track did he take a G8 on to get to 160?

It’s not holier than thou…it’s anger towards this kid’s apparent blatant disregard for the safety of himself and more importantly others. I have trouble mustering anywhere near the sympathy for him that I have for his family.

Put it this way. If he died playing Russian roulette with a gun you’d all probably say he had it coming. IMO it seems he did that here.

I'll put it another way. It was a "loaded accident" in that the faster you go, it's like putting more bullets in the gun while playing russian roulette.

Thats what I thought too, it said he had just lost his brother. And hitting that speed in a residential area?

Sorry, but that is plain dumb, sure go risk your life on the highway or some empty back road, but at that speed, if someone stepped out they are dead as well...

Impressive though... landing on a ****ing roof... and everyone said G8s were heavy boats...

Apparently... he was driving on the service(feeder) road for the freeway(immediately to the left of the accident scene). And he began driving off on the right shoulder for a decent distance, then struck the curb almost dead on which then put the car into a somersault action which finally came to stop on the roof, after taking out a good deal of the rest of the roof during the tumbling action.

Maybe he was speeding on the freeway got off and wasn't paying attention, maybe he was on the freeway and dozed off, maybe a blown tire pulled him to the right, maybe his brakes went out as he exited the freeway, maybe... Whatever the reason, a young person died, intentionally, due to stupidity or a legit accident. Point is, its not fair to family and friends and is still a tragedy. Nobody here knows what type of person he was, how he drove everyday, or his emotional/mental status at that time. Most likely, we'll never know exactly what happened.

Lets just all take this as a lesson, and think twice before we take that extra risk. Maybe that little pause will end up saving you or someone else in the future.

RIP Shaun

Thats all i have to say on this topic.

If his unpleasant wounding has in some way enlightened the rest of you as to the grim finish beneath the glossy veneer of criminal life and inspired you to change your ways, then his injuries carry with it an inherent nobility, and a supreme glory. We should all be so fortunate. You say poor Toby? I say poor us.

i still dont see how it is possible to launch a car that high from a CURB. it also looks like he hit the other side of the roof as well so it definitely flipped a few times.

Didn't bother reading the rest of the thread, but Um..yea.. no sympathy here. I know, I know, I'm a horrible human being with no feelings.

to all the people saying we should have sympathy:

Driving that fast is like playing Russian Roulette with yourself and random strangers and family who don't want to play.

If you think it's fair or have sympathy for someone breaking the law to this extent and crash into your own car (or house) and potentially kill everyone in it then you're an idiot.

either way it sucks that he gambled and lost it all but the fact is he was 22 and had a long life ahead and his family has to suffer it's sad but we dont know what happened he could have fallen asleep or could have been reckless who knows but it's not for us to decide what happened i feel for his friends and family and him b/c he had a long life ahead and missed out on a lot of things im sure

what ? form the report the gym is roughly 100 feet form the curb he hit
and the building is 25-30 feet high with the billboard signs. i don't understand how my statement has anything to do with how much i drink. when the last time u seen a 4000+ pound vehicle in the roof of a building ?

yeah it sucks someone died. do i have sympathy, no. driving at the speed he did he put his life and innocent bystanders on the line. we dont know his mental state, or the situation he was in, but either way it doesnt give him the right to drive like a complete idiot.

and that picture on his facebook or whatever of his speedometer hitting 160+ shows that it wasnt an unusual occurrence to hit those speeds and that he had what was coming to him. if you are playing with a knife and you get cut dont cry about it, you know what you are doing.

im really happy nobody else was hurt in the accident. yeah he was 22 and had a whole life in front of him, if he drove like a 22 year old should and not like a 5 year old maybe he would get to live that life. imagine if he took out a child or someone who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
