E-brake question on tahoe

So yesterday I had the day off so had some time to do the brakes on my tahoe. Got all new rotors, pads, and went to it. Everything went so smooth till i got to the last wheel. right before i went to the last wheel i said to myself that it was going so smooth and was shocked. I spoke too soon...

I went to remove the small screw that holds the retainly clip for the ebrake pad that inside the rear rotor. The head snapped right off! , flush with the surface.

Its right behind the wheel hub and no way to access it unless its out of the way. i did pop out the stud and it was a stright shot to it to try and drill and tap it out but the bits are too short. My question is i cant get it to a shop till atleast saturday. Can I do any harm by not having that one shoes in there? I left it out sompletly and drove in fine to work today. Its only the ebrake and the other side is in there.

if you want to replace it, you have to get a new ebrake cable mount. you can leave the shoe out though, no biggy really. when you step on the ebrake pedal though, it will probably shoot the adjusters out though and bounce around the inside. anyways, you will have to pull that axle out to replace it. while its out, i would get a new backing plate unless its in pristine condition. they are notorious for rusting out along with that bolt braking. any questions about it just post up.

thanks for the info, thats what i wanted to hear - the adjuster poppd out so I left it out figuring it would rattle around. The backing plate looked ok - not rusted out yet. Im just gonna leave it be then if its no biggie. prob still get it to the shop soon enough those as i hate knoing it isnt fixed right. Those shoes make so much noise when they wear out, couldnt stand it so im happy now that is quite and smooth again.

yup and the overall design sucks IMO. just don't use the parking brake and it should be no issue. i am actually in the middle of doing the entire rear brake system on my buddy's silverado. screw broke on one side and backing plates are flakes on the ground now. fun times.
