exhaust leak?

I have a 2000 z28 with a hooker exhaust. Recently it started making a noise when i accelerate and i found out there is a leak in the gasket behind the cat. Its gonna cost me $150 to fix it so i think im just gonna get a true dual exhaust. Any suggestions and where to buy it? Thanks.

a true dual exhaust system is going to set you back a lot of money...much more than $150..

There is no gain on going true duals with the power you are making right now. The 3" system flows sufficient enough for what you have now and if you make more power in the future.

My advice would be to fix the exhaust you have now.

Texas Speed sells a truedual set up for f-bodies a decent price, but I'm pretty sure its made to fit cars with long tube headers. There are exhaust shops that can fab up a exhaust for you but I would just fix the leak.

trust me from experience the hooker is more than adequate for your vehicle. my trans am had true duals on it and i ended up replacing them and the 30000000 lbs worth of piping for a 3'' exhaust system with a hooker catback. it was plenty. a gasket shouldnt cost you 150 bucks to fix. if you have any wrenching abilities you can fix it really cheap. get yourself a roll of gasket paper from an auto parts store and you'll be set :nod:

iirc, there is no gasket after the cat. only the triangle gaskets between the exhaust manifolds and the cat pipes, behind the cat is just a ball and socket connection. everything else rearward is slip fit.

i was assuming the people that did his exhaust before did some type of flangular style setup :-P

yea then i guess i will just get it fixed, put the money towards other things.
