I smashed into a concrete pole and well I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

The rear tire also ripped and the lower control arm crumpled about 2 inches so its not even drivable right now. Will this even be repairable and does anyone know a rough estimate of what it will cost me?

thing is, anything IS repairable, but then cost comes into play.

for 2k there is a 2000 SS roller for sale in the classifieds... alot of work, but you could use the roller to swap everything over... just an idea.

the worst part about this is GM does not make that fender, it took a month for my body shop to get that exact fender for my car, ended up getting a used one. Just a heads up. Very similiar to what i did to my car

Yes. It can be repaired. No, it will not be cheap.

yeah almost anything can be repaired but money is the problem. to bad it had to happen to a good car and not a beater. that inside shot looks pretty nasty.

I actually got new rear control arms from summit because after seeing what happened to the stock ones I wanted something stronger.

I got an estimate on the body damage today and it came out to around $4400, so I gave my insurance company a call and ended up putting in a claim for a $500 deductible and my insurance wont be going up. The only problem I have with this is if my insurance company will total my car or not? Ive heard that if the cost of repair is higher than a certain % of what the cars worth, the adjuster may total it?. I know the KBB is only 9500 so I hope I'm wrong.

Heres some updated pics:

Yea its more like $4700 total. I also need a new tire, the cost of that plus sway bar bolt/bushings and control arm brings the total up about $300 lol.

Any update on the car?

wcamarors1992

Nothings really updated yet although my insurance company is going to cover the damages minus the deductible which is about $4850 total. The body shop that the car will be going to couldn't find a new quarter panel replacement so the car has to wait until hes able to find one from a junkyard or something.

It just sucks because I now have the money to get it fixed but one of the parts isn't available:-x

at least they didn't total it.

In some cases its better if it is totalled, because now(unless he has a 2nd car) could be without a car for an extended period of time. Most insurance companies only cover x amount for rental reimbursement and if he's waiting on a part that can only be found via junkyards it could be a while ie weeks or months before they can find one.

Hopefully it all works out, good luck.

Just a heads up next time you look for an insurance quote: insurance companies don't use KBB, since it overprices most cars by @ least $3,000. www.nada.com is what most if not all insurance companies use to determine if the car is less to repair or write off.

It's also a great site to use when you're searching for a car :) the previous owner of my car wanted 15k, we got her down to 12.5k cuz of NADA ^_^

yeah they mostly use nada and red book. rental usually ends when the check is cut.
hopefully u can find ur part asap so u can get her back together again!! :)

First order of business after you get it fixed, do a 4X4 delete mod with some lowering springs, damn it sits high!

MyFirstZ
07-15-2010, 12:52 PM
not to be an ass but if you listened to me about how no one makes that fender anymore when i posted on june 21st, probably could have saved you some time

wcamarors1992
07-15-2010, 09:46 PM
I really couldn't save any time by looking earlier for a quarter panel because I didn't really know how I was going to go about getting it fixed at that point. It doesn't matter though because my body shop just got a quarter panel in for my car and it goes in for repair first thing on Monday.

About the car rental stuff, my insurance company will only cover $20 a day. Since I'm under 25 they also wanted to charge me some insane fees plus I would be renting a stupid chevy aveo. I'd rather have my mom drop me off at work lol.

Once I get it back it's definitely getting lowering springs asap if I can figure out how to do them myself. That was the next thing to do since I had just bought those wheels for it.
