They are talking about him for the Hall of Fame. I would vote Him in. He was the most dominant player I have ever seen. Cant believe there are talks about him in the HOF. Makes me feel really old!!

He didn't play at the high level for a long enough period of time. Injuries suck, but they are part of the game.

Bernie Nichols played longer and better than a point per game guy.

Tim Kerr shredded teams for a span of about 5 years, but then injuries brought him down. 4 straight 50+goal seasons

Pavel Bure....the Russian Rocket....another point per game guy

lots of douche-bags are in the hall of fame (for every sport) so despite his douche-baggery stunts, that's not enough to keep him out. I bet if Rod Brind'Amour had a vote, Lindros wouldn't get it.....

He just didn't sustain the high level of play long enough. He was a force of nature, but ultimately nature bit back.....

head injuries suck...1 can ruin your career. especially with what we know with how concussions work. 20-30 years ago you played with the concussion and were chastised for complaining about something silly like a ''headache''

Saying that someone doesnt belong in the hall of fame for hitting good in hockey is like saying that player in football doesnt belong in for a good sacking record. Hitting is part of the game, whether its limited or not its still part of the game.

On a side note it totally reminds me of the kid at Gwar who actually said to me in the pit all pissed off "Why the **** did you push me"

its not specifically about his head. Its the muted career results due to injury. There are 1000s of athletes that had hof potential and even 3-5 hof quality years but their careers were cut short by injury and there overall body of work is not hof caliber and so no hof.

The rare exception is a guy like sandy koufax because his 5 or so years were insanely good.

Like I said in my 1st post.Lindros was ,during a 4-5yr run, the most Dominent player in the league. Not to many people in any sport can say that! For me that alone should get him in the HOF!

It wouldn't be a crime if Lindros made it, but he would need to catch a weak class and even then I think it won't be for a while.

lol i know some of those might already be in the HOF...not sure on it...but theyve had similar careers....awesome breakout years followed by a slew of injuries which ended their production or their careers all together...


terrell davis is the best example as you said. 2 superbowl rings and a short career...id say he deserves to be in the HOF as without him and his 2k yard years Elway wouldve been in the Marino boat.

This will always be an issue when discussing HOF entries. They said the same thing about A-Rod (pre-steroid scandal) because he's had such a remarkable career but no WS rings.

It's a mixed opinion.

IMO, a hall of famer is someone who changed the game for either their team and/or sport. Lawrence Taylor is a perfect example... offenses changed strategies when they were facing him and he STILL had a remarkable career, though his performance was probably due to coke rage :rofl: . Even if you took his 'stats' out, he was still a dominant presence on the field for his team, and against the opposition. If Big Ben had another concussion that forces him to quit lets say this year, he will without a doubt be in the HOF because he led the Steelers to multiple titles without the Marino/Favre career statistics. Though, Marino is a good exception because he had such a stellar career. Lindros was a beast, and IMO he deserves to be in the HOF, but I picture him to be the type to get into the HOF when hes in his 60's :lol:

So, to answer your question Nasty, I think championships are a bonus to being inducted into the HOF, but there are those select few players that had such an outstanding career that they will get in there with or without championships.

He was fear'd for the way he hit and for what he could do with the puck. He was a household name that pretty much everyone knew. id say lindros had more of a Daunte Culpepper or Steve Mcnair type of career. did good a few years, injuries persisted and never quite got over the hump.

I was comparing him to them as in being fear'd. I am also saying that in his prime I compared him to those players not in his entire career. If Lindros didnt get injured I think he would have continued to be a beast of a player.

When I was growing up We would always try to pick the best of each sport or the most Dominant or fear'd player and pretty much Lindros came up every time for Hockey. If the Flyers would have had some more steady goal tending then I think they would have won a cup or two with the Leagion of Doom. But a team can only go so far with Garth Snow..

Of course he is the Greatest player of all time but in the mid 90's he wasnt the best in the NHL. I mean from 95-97 he was on 3 different teams. He also was a -20 or so each of those seasons. His prime was the 80's and the early part of the 90's
