Yeah, I know, I probably shouldn't post this thread, but the lounge isn't open to the public anymore, right?

I need someone that'll pass me with front window tint on my car. I know public inspection will flat out fail me.
I've already talked to a tint shop about re-tinting them for me, but would rather just drive in to a private shop and drive out with a new sticker than make another tint-shop visit.

I don't expect too many public replies, so I've cleared some room in my PM box.

I'd really appreciate the help of a fellow club member.

Mike

That's right. Owners still aren't off the hook for emissions tests. Used cars must be checked every two years. That's a federal clean air-requirement for crowded, smoggy states like the small, eastern peninsula named for a garden. Here are more MVC questions puzzling readers:

Q. Because inspections are ending, can I drive with tinted side windows without getting a ticket? Joe Fortuna, New Milford

No. Although the state considers inspections unnecessary, it still wants your car to meet safety requirements. The tinted side windows ban in statutes 39:3-74 and 75 are still in effect, as is their $54 fines.

It not an official MVC website but...

Nice, go Christie. Telling the NJEA to go **** themselves and cutting safety inspections, makes me almost want to move back lol

Thats what it sounds like. It looks like there won't be an "inspection" for it but a cop can still give you a ticket for tinted windows... :moon:

This doesn't change the actual laws, you just can't fail inspection for it.

So like the front plate thing, you don't need on to pass inspection, but can get a ticket it for lacking one ?

talking to a employee Saturday at the Manahawkin station, they are still unsure of whats going on with that. Trenton is talking among themselves and not really conveying the information down. So, I wouldn't say thats 100% true

Ill ask my mother-in-law tonight. Shes the lead supervisor at camden DMV and goes to trenton every week for a huge meeting. Ill see if she caught wind of anything. Not making any promises but if theres any word flying around she could of heard something.

Dont forget about the roaming MV roadside inspection saftey safari!! If they catch you at one of their roadside inspections and you have tinted windows they will remove the sticker and the business that issued you that sticker can be in trouble. Its really not worth the risk.Just my 2 cents.

How can the business that issued the stickers get in trouble? The state/police etc would have to prove they inspected the car with the tint already on. So if you get your car inspected in January and get the windows tinted in March the shop can get in trouble? I have to raise the BS flag on that one.

Out of curiosity, what would one need to do to legally have tint on their windows. Is there a "medical condition" one could have so they could legally have tinted windows?

yes, certain medical cases can apply for a "waiver" type of thing, they have to contact the MV director as far as i remember.

Yes I have that wavier. You have to get the form from DMV and have your eye doctor fill it out. Then you have to send it it and get a wavier certificate and bring it to inspection. But there still are many restrictions on where the tint is and how dark it is.
