hey guys. i have a 96 trans am that i bought with a new exhaust already on it. Im really thinking of putting on headers, but it seems that i will need a whole new exhaust system, a y, and the headers. i took a look under it today at my uncles house and it seems like i have to take out the whole exhaust out. does anyone know anyone or any website that sells headers for a 96 trans am with an Lt1. i need headers the y and an exhaust. any links or help is appreciated. thankyou

If you already have a newer cat-back, there should be no reason that you have to replace it when doing headers. And many companies make headers - what is your budget?

my budget is about 800 for headers and a y. but i cant seem to find anyone that sells them for a 96 trans am Lt1. when i was under it today, it seemed like it was going to be very difficult to put the headers on, because the exhaust actually goes toward the front of the car before going to the rear, so it looked like i needed something special. im opent to any suggestion though. thanks

SSP is right over the border in NY, a bit north of you. His work has a good reputation here, I would talk to him first.

I put the following on my 96 Trans Am:
Pacesetter long tube headers with AIR and EGR (retains all emissions stuff)
Pacesetter off road y pipe (y pipe with no cats)
2 Catco 3 inch high flow cat's

I had the shop cut up the non emissions friendly y pipe and weld in cats as I wanted it as legal as possible.
