They have ones with AIR/EGR and off road ones with neither, depending on which you want.

Nothing really, non AIR/EGR will require a tune to delete the EGR/AIR systems out.
Def go race headers though, F AIR/EGR, they subtract from the shiny.

Just a silly question here. What else is done to the car that you want to jump in and do long tubes?
Theres other places on a stock 4th gen that I would throw parts at first. Chassis/Suspension would be one of them.

so there racing headers? as long as i gain horsepower and they look good, and my cars louder then im a happy camper.

its cool you wanna follow in your old mans footsteps. There is plenty to learn, is it manual or auto?

its a 96 T/A lt1 ws6, its kinda rare. only 2,000 were made its an automatic, and it runs great. is there anything thats cheaper than headers that would give me more horsepower besides my new exhaust?

not used to the whole page 2 concept are we?
worst thing that is common to happen with headers is burnt wires, mainly ignition wires. you feel the car start to misfire, make a panic thread, then we all point and laugh. its good stuff

If you decide to go race headers then be prepaired to possibly fail inspection. That being said, putting headers on can lead to exhaust leaks if the gaskets don't hold and possibly y-pipe leaks as well. You'll need some heat wrap to protect some of the wiring, plug wires and possibly the fuel and brake lines under the car where the y-pipe will almost touch them. You will need a tune to remove the check engine light for the missing EGR and AIR if you go race headers, and to tune out the rear O2 sensors. If your motor mounts are worn, your headers or y-pipe will most likely hit the A-arm or floorboard when you accelerate. Plan on getting new front O2 sensors as well but don't put them in right away as new headers can burn off the coating or oily residue and foul out the O2 sensors. Overall, the header install can run around $1000 even if you install them yourself if you swap out other parts like the O2's, plug wires, motor mounts, gaskets, tune, plugs, heat wrap, etc.
