View Full Version : I'm at a loss for words....

I'm in absolute shock right now....I'm almost at a loss for words(tough for me, I know). So any time I see a soldier in uniform I usually thank them for what they do/have done(unless they're with family or busy etc). I don't make a big spectacle of it, usually low-key...just to say thanks. So I'm in Wawa and as I'm walking out I see a guy in uniform...as I walk by I say a quiet "thank you sir, I appreciate your service". Well some douche decides he's going to make a scene calling him a baby killer and a murderer and that they should all be hung for treason. Now, agree with the war(s) or not...doesn't matter...to fly off the handle like that and make a scene is f'in ridiculous. I couldn't even respond to this person's obnoxious babbling. WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???????

I've gotten into many fights about this kind of thing. Whether for the war or against it, take it up with he politicians, we(the troops) are just doing our job and we're doing a damn good one too. Semper Fidelis, HUA, Oorah!.

Sic Vis Pacem Para Bellum

If you want peace, prepare for war.

I was a patriot as a citizen and as Marine I fought proudly for this country and these kind of people make me sick. I will not wish bad things upon them but Kharma will take its toll on them and people alike.

That's all I have to say about this.

I look at it this way, the person had a right to say it...but why there? This was a personal interaction between the solider and myself...

I know I'm a loud-mouth sometimes(I just love debating and busting balls) but there's a time and place for everything.

This isn't the first time I've seen this happen either...it's just a bit shocking.

It really is just disgusting and aggravating. What do they think they will accomplish by yelling at a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine?
However there is nothing like watching a group of strangers gather and defend our servicemen and gang up on those unpatriotic asses.

its ironic that it is because of servicemen that they have the freedom to say that.
Honestly its not worth getting upset over, the VAST majority of people understand the difference between politics and serving your homeland

Geez, what the hell is wrong with people. It's like they think it's Vietnam (not implying Vietnam vets are baby killers).

Some people are just stupid. When a close friend of mine was over there one of their jobs was to protect kids walking to school. To give them an armed escort to protect the kids from their own people. How is that a baby killer?

If that argument didn't work I just kick them in their baby maker. :nutkick:

We use to see **** like this everywere. I remember on the Enterprise we use to get CNN and there would be showing anti war protests and **** while were are in the persian Gulf bombing the hell out of Iraq. Made us all feel like **** that there are millions of people in our own country who are not behind us for being at war. They have a right to protest and what not but there messages get sent to everyone serving pretty much anywere that has access to CNN and it really hurts the Soldiers and Sailers morale. That was the hardest part about serving overseas. CNN never showed the morale building stuff that people do for us just the **** thats against us and the war.

True but I would get in fights with people who would tell me "How can I support your effort if I do not support the war?"

I think I probably woulda laid the guy out... Its not 1968. The American public was suppose to get it through their heads that soldiers are doing a job.

Yup. It's not even close though.

People do things like that when they don't fully understand the real situation. A shame for sure. But as stated- it isn't Vietnam. Stop trying to relive your parents hippie days thinking that this is YOUR chance to save the world.

Exactly. Vietnam was a completely different war. But in both instances it is still unfair to make a generalization like that about a solider who's returned from service.

My temper almost came out...I'd never hit anyone like that(I couldn't anyway, anyone that knows me knows the physical issues I have) but it was tempting...

Just completely classless...I just don't understand people sometimes.

i have my own thoughts which ill keep to myself...

...but u said the d-bag said the soldier should be "hung for treason"?
if so... um yeah that random guy needs to look up the definition of treason.

TREASON

This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

lol, I know....it didn't/doesn't make any sense. I guess he feels the war was unconstitutional(just assuming, not trying to spark a debate) so in way it would be.

This is very much like Vietnam....I will leave it at that.

I dont agree with any sort of baby killer comments, be it 20 mins ago or 20 years ago, or 20 generations ago. Classless to the max. People believe in what they believe reguarding the war and the government overall, just wish some people had a more class then to shout things like that at a member of the armed services. Its a damn shame that people say garbage like that.

people do it because they know that a solider in uniform cannot do anything about it

Even out of uniform if they get into a fight they get in pretty serious trouble.

This guy was probably an ex military member who got kicked out for something and is just pissed off at everyone.

I just said to keep quiet and that the conversation didn't involve him. A few others told him to shut the **** up. The whole thing lasted maybe 15 seconds?

I'm usually the quieter guy in groups, very laid back, but let me just say, i would be the first person to lay that bastard out, its a respect thing, any soldier has clearly done more for their country than the average citizen, i wholeheartedly respect them in all branches. That's just one of the few really messed up things i just can't tolerate. :hammer:

It doesn't get much more disrespectful and un-American than these people. The guy at the wawa wasn't far off from this group. The people that have no respect for the American military should find another country to live in. Noone is forcing them to live here.

doesnt surprise me. doesnt anger me. when you enlist in the army you take on all the responsibilities and burdens that go along with it...whether it be invading another country for a political agenda you dont believe in or not reacting physically towards someone speaking their opinion...you take the good in with the bad.
