So I'm a freshman up here at Syracuse University, its great I love it but they don't allow cars for freshman(not that my parents would let me anyway) but anyway...I bought my 02 Z back in October of 09. I don't think I have missed a day of driving it. I usually drive it at the very least once a day. Going from that to no driving at all has been very hard haha. I miss that sound and feel so much. YouTube helps when i need my sound fix but I figured I would vent to some other Fbody guys who know my pain haha. I haven't found any fellow fbody owners up here...yet but some kid has a sweet TBSS that sounds great. Man I wish I had my Z up here...I'll see it at Thanksgiving though! :|

yeah i remember my first semester of college, it sucked but it makes it better when you get back to it . . . trust me you dont want it up there with kids who dont give a **** about cars, there or yours, it will get all dinged up, you more likely will be asked to drive people everywhere and not get any money for gas, the winters up there suck ass and will destroy it, and you always have the potential to drive it drunk. better off at home.

Car at college = you the driver! No one asked me for a ride freshman year because of no car. After that because I worked on the car here & there no one questioned me if I said I could not drive because the car was broken. :)

yeah the winters here are not Camaro safe...at all haha. I would probably only bring it up here in the spring when I'm a junior or senior and have a good spot to park it. I have heard of some great roads up here i want to check out with it. Just gonna have to stick with walking for now. Only a few months until we are reunited and yeah Z i bet it will be better than ever when i get home.

I'm in the same boat, except I've had my car since January of 08. I have my truck up here so it's not too bad, I still get to have the sound of a v8 whenever I go to drive. I went back home on the second weekend and drove the car and think I drove it the easiest it's even been driven haha. Having time off makes you appreciate the power a little more, but I dont miss it all that much because the Silverado is a really nice DD.

You don't want to have a nice car at college. Parking is always tight and people don't appreciate anything...especially the kids who have everything handed to them. It would be more upsetting to have a nice camaro with a bunch of dings and paint chips on the side than no car

i got my car over 3 years ago drove it almost everyday then i got a **** load of tickets and couldnt afford insurance so i took it off the road to make it faster, that was almost a year ago, car currently sits on jackstands with no interior, driveshaft, rear, ect. but i do occasionally start it up and sit on the stool that replaced my driver seat lol, i miss my camaro too
every so often i pass through Syracuse on my way to Jersey. And yea, winters are not friendly for any rwd vehicle. My SS hasnt been up here since Oct 2008, and even then i trailered it home.

I remember my sophmore year I bought a 69 camaro convertible right at the end of summer. Couldn't take it up to Rochester for college until the next year when I was in an apartment. Sophmore year was one heck of a long year knowing the vert was sitting in the garage at home. I did end up taking the car to school junior and senior year. It was quite the challenge in winter, especially without a posi rear. But they know how to plow up in NY so it wasn't as bad as you would think. Now get back to studying!

LOL i was in the same boat as you last year! man does it suck to not have a set of wheels at school. I had my bike but thats not the same. I just bummed rides off kids here (although everything here is like little 4 cyl) and it made me miss the sound of my car all the more. i didnt want to bring it out here b/c of the miles, but now i dont care lol when it dies it shall be come my race car  it will probably go home during the winter months b/c last year we got like 48in of snow in two weeks (western PA that is) and everything out here rusts to death from the salt.
you will def bring it earlier than junior/senior year.

i think the best college vehicles are single cab pickups (minimizes riders, easier to lug crap home & back) and small, cheap beaters that you don't care if it hits a wall let alone gets scratched or stolen - like a 15 year old civic. the exchange students at school bought like $500 vehicles, left them on campus over the summer and when they left for good they left the car too. :)

If you think being at college without a car is bad, try being in the Military! At least you can go home whenever you want!
