View Full Version : Swapping Motor and Trans into another car... wiring nightmare?

So... I picked up a roller that's in far better condition than my current car. Body is nearly perfect and it's t-tops where-as mine is a coupe. It also has a lower gear ratio as it was a v-6 and mine is currently the 1994 formula so it came with 2.73s. Here's the question... How much of a nightmare is it going to be to swap the motor and trans into the new car? They're both 1994 Firebirds but as I said, it will be an LT1 and trans going into the V6 car. Anyone have any suggestions or guidance? I know it's a big task to tackle but.. I'm just really loving the way this new car looks and I don't really want to just switch panels since mine isn't t-tops and I'd much rather have the t-tops. Any guidance would be great [=

as far as i can tell, you should only have to switch a couple wires. i don't know which ones exactly but i believe its going to be in the harness on the driver side kick panel. the connectors that come in on the passenger side should all match up correctly. basically drop the one k member and swap it under the other car. switch over the little parts and gauge cluster then you should be good to go. i would obviously expect little details here and there to deal with.

Change the driveshaft and torque arm too, assuming it has the 2 piece one
