do mustang owners have a problem?

Thats the way that the majority of Mustang owners are that I have seen. My old roomate use to tell me that he hated cruising down the VA Beach oceanfront strip with me ( Car Cruise right on the beach pretty much) That when he would be behind me sitting in the traffic that more people walking on the sidewalks on the strip would comment, and just look at my H/C/I V6 Firebird more then at his H/C/I 02 GT mustang. When I had my 96 GT mustang with its 215 hp I use to hate on LS1/LT1 owners just because I was Jealous of there cars! Now I didnt try to race them or mess with them on the road because that was just stupid as my car couldnt even hang with them. They finnally came out with a GT that can beat a stock 98 Z28. I guess they have something to be proud about?

Well I own a mustang and a firebird. I have not taken the mustang on the streets yet cause it's not yet finished but i've never had a problem with my firebird. I've had a few camaros and corvettes trying to race me (also the damn ricers) but never a mustang. When i'm running around with my friend in his saleen mustang we've gotten a few ls1's trying to race. I think it goes both ways.

No I get it too, as I'm going to work, some kid with a Fox Body has to follow me, and then floor it past me whenever we see each other on 73. It's very annoying.

Remember that Mustangs are a girls car. Cobra's (not fox body or SN95 chassis) are an exception, but since they are a dime a dozen car, with a girly following, it's hard not to look at a Camaro/Firebird over a mustang.

But there not the ones that mess with you while driving! The ones that mess with you are bolt on fox and bolt on SN95 body style.. There like 14 second cars. Not really in it for building a fast car just in it for buying a mustang, any mustang because they think its fast!! Thats why I got mine. Thought since it was a GT and sounded good it had to run fast. My 96 GT should be able to keep up with a 96 Z28!! Boy was I wrong..

no i have known about the rivalry but these guy's are just a holes. doing stupid ****, im not talking about stoplight drags or anything, driving down the highway just about causing an accident to get next to me look over give me a couple revs of the engine take off, then slow down do it again. dont get me wrong ive done a little street 1320 in my day, but i didnt do it while there was a ton of traffic.

Well as much fun as it may be for us, it can also be a hazard if trying to impress becomes a driving distraction on his part, and causes damage because their train of thought is on us and not the road, that is what I fear most, if they are riding my bumper, or if they are next to me and are watching me. I don't give them a second of my time anymore, I keep looking straight, it's a V6, I love how it looks, and no one suspects it's got 6 cylinders, I'm nto out to race anyone, I just want to cruise, or have an exciting way to drive to work.

ive had both a H/C/I 5.0 and a 383 LT1, and it goes both ways. in the stang the Fbodys want it, in the Camaro the stangs want it. its just natural.

I have to disagree. I have a ton of Mustang friends and have to say that when I'm in their cars, very few F-bodies try to mess around, but when I'm in the vert a ton of Mustangs try to mess.

I once had a guy in an 08 mustang gt weave through large amounts of traffic to get next to me while i was just minding my own business on the way to the north meet. I had previously done a full throttle on ramp entrance that he apparently heard :). He yelled "sounds good man" out his window to me. He fell back behind me and we cruised for a few miles until I got off. The guy was in his 30s. Its mostly young mustang owners that are the problem.

IMO, ford over-engineered the 4.6, and had less then desirable numbers compared to the relativly simple design of the LT/LS block, but it seems that Ford always over-engineered their engines in the 90's.
I do wish GM followed Ford in creating aluminum heads for the 3.8's, and factory shorty headers, but then again, why should I complain when in the end my engine makes 45 more hp from the factory compared to the 3.8 from Ford, AND we have a strong aftermarket backing.

And I don't hate teh mustang as a car, there are a few I wish to own, its the owners who I don't fancy that much.

"Just because you have all that power, doesnt mean you have to prove it to them everytime" I took that advice for the most part. i dont go challenging people. usually its the other way around. On the way back down, around Waretown a black evo rolls up to me, makes his BOV hiss a few times at me. I look over, and see this gel-head and his what appeared to be an underage girlfriend looking over at us with a "what-you-gonna-do" face. I acted like I was going to give him a thumbs up, but just like the romans, it quickly was turned upside down. To say the least, his girl starts laughing hard as hell, and his duck face turned into a ****-you face. So Joey Juicehead decides to fall back a few feet, and take off like an ass hat, only to get off at exit 63. Best drive home ever from a meet or car show haha

HOW could 3100,3400, and 3500 series motors get aluminum heads, but the 3.GREAT's got cast, and nothing more until ZZP finally came out with a set..... and yeah we were close on HP, if only GM spent more time on the intake side of the heads to make them flow better, our gas mileage would be so much better ( not that its already not that bad), and we would have a little more power to play with. The downside is the torque, we are making 225ft. lbs, compared to 305ft. lbs, but what do you excpect, ewre V6's. But just like you said, 215? weren't Fox bodies getting 10 more HP from the show room floor stock?

The 1993 GT mustang was making 205hp stock! 94-97 Gt's had 215 and 98 had 225.

There is nothing wrong with cast iron heads. My V6 with ported stock heads and a ported stock intake with a nitrous cam made 225 rwhp on a pretty much stock tune. Thats not bad. Now with HP tuners and better and bigger cams out there for the 3.8's I have seen 260-300 rwhp all motor!

Work with what you have! If you want to build your V6 then dont waste the money on aluminum heads just get a stock set of heads for 100.00 or less and port the **** out of them! I also saw that they make Longtube headers now for the V6! When I built mine the only headers out there were the crappy RKsport shorty headers..

In my camaro, the mustangs try.. my boyfriend has a few mustangs and any time we're out there's always a 3rd or 4th gen that wants to race.. never any earlier generations. I think it has more to do with the age of the owner and not the choice of car.

i agree with both of these statements.. I'd rather have a GT cruising around me than some silly integra that tried racing me on 18 north between college ave and busch campus. Silly drivers just don't understand that there's no replacement for displacement.

And, when done right, GTs, Cobras, SVTs ... I always love to hear that pony car rumble from time to time =]
