i was finally able to afford a cheep 87 monte carlo ss areo coupe, it needs some tlc but the car is complete, not to bad on the rust, does have a 350 in it now with headers worked trans and 373 posi rear, t-tops black car with a marron interior, does noty run to well but does run,
needs paint, and some interior work, been sitting for 4 years so its a good chance its going to need brake work also but thats ok its a winter project,
all depends on what the brakes need might go 4 wheel disc,
plans are a fresh paint job for next summer, bolt on steel cowl hood, headlight black out covers, ground effects, grand national rear [ have it ] but might sell it, interior work during next summer,

Save it if you can, they're getting tougher to find in good shape. And I know mine will get sold sooner or later, I'm just hoping it goes now rather than waiting until next year.

I've never seen a monte with grey interior, only Grand Nationals and 442s. They made em or is it just that theyre rare cause silver montes are hard to find?

What was the body color? Silver?
I mean sure the grey interior matches well with every monte body color except for red but every black, white and burgandy car I've seen is burgandy interior. Every early blue car I've seen is blue interior.
Dont think I've ever seen a silver monte up close...

IMO, the burgundy was the most common interior color, but I've seen quite a few gray '85-'88 interiors. My first '85 SS was white outside/gray interior, and my old neighbor had a white/gray '88 SS.
Here's a pic of the interior from my old car - it's stock, except for the '02 Camaro front buckets and black carpet.

Yep, the cool steering column is one of those removeable clamshells to help keep her safe. :)

Ouch!
At least the Monte has some lines and curves, not like the slab-sided GN.

O ouch I think my 442 just shed a tear lol.
Buicks do have the nicest asses of any of the g-bodies though.
TPI that picture makes me consider putting a black carpet in my 442. Blue interior black carpet. Just cause I was thinking about painting all my interior wood grain black. hmmm

Man, that sounds like a good idea, I think that would look awesome! The blue used on the Cutlii is a sharp color - my old '86 Cutlass Salon had the same blue interior, and I liked it a lot. I still miss the Astroroof. :(

As I'm sure you know, some of the 442s got lightning rods. That redeems the Olds cars from suckiness.

No 442s ever got the lightning rod shifters. They came in the earlier 80s hurst/olds cutlasses.
The 442 package was in short a heads/cam package that got a whopping like 15 more hp. And obviously the appearance features, 8.5 rear, and different governor and servo in the trans.

Am I reading this wrong then:
http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/ofhos.htm#HO 1983
That the H/O was on top of the 442 in 83-84?
I'm not too up on my 80's Olds stuff. I just new the LR's got put into some of the Olds G-Bodies, and that that's cool.

Billy, I think that website is incorrect - in '83 and '84, there was no 442 model - just the Hurst/Olds, which came with the L/Rs. The 442 replaced the H/O in '85-'87, and did not have the Lightning Rods.

the Lightening rods FTW.....needs to come in the next firebird
On a more serious note, did anyone here actually own one or drie one with that setup? how was it?
