The time is inching near to where I can finally put my Z28 back on the road, and I know its in dire need of brakes all around. I'm trying to find a low cost yet good set of replacement pads & rotors to hold the car over till I can scrape up some extra coin to do the upgraded brake mods that I want (The motorcycle project has taken priority for fund appropriation)

What do I have out there thats available for me at a reasonable price? I had Hawks Pads & Powerslot Rotors on it with steel braided lines and I felt they were a pretty good set up. Should I stick with that set up, or are their other alternatives?

I just don't have the $800 right now for a C5 upgrade like I want.

if youre not racing, theres no need to go C5. its alot of money to spend on something you wont really feel a difference unless youre on a track.

full fluid flush, braided lines, HPS and solid rotors are all you need for street and autox. if youre dieing to change something, a cheaper upgrade is LS1 brakes.

Swapping to LS1 brakes on my LT1 \was worth it in my opinion. I paid like 125 for the spindles, hubs, rotors and calipers and lines. Put the lt1 hubs in, used the rotors and calipers as cores and was worth it IMO

Only problem is I don't have much time to do a swap like that at home let alone to pay someone. Kinda just want to do a quick brake job in my driveway (every bolt probably just froze as I typed this)

oh .. ok. Then go with Hawk pads and Bembo blanks or something

if you want some c5 adapter brackets for your lt1 setup, i've got them sitting in my room collecting dust. all the hardware and instructions are there too. just sayin.....

if you wanna save money and just get on the road again i would use a ceramic pad and a cheap rotor. maybe even see if you can get your rotors turned at a local shop/store.
