i just got pulled over about an hour ago by a state trooper for going a bit over the speed limit, but he let me out on a warning for that, but i got a court summons for this Sunday because of improper safety glass, because i have a small spider crack less than an inch in diameter, do i just get a fine and does it affect my insurance? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

It's not a moving violation, you won't get points. You can probably even get it dropped if you get it fixed beforehand and bring receipts

can i fix the windshield myself or does it have to have a shops receipt?

If you have a receipt for the replacement glass then they'll accept that, as long as its fixed.

im having safelite come and fix my windshield today, but it will be 149 plus tax, the ticket itself is like a 54 dollar fine i think ill just pay the fine and then fix the windshield myself

so.... safelite is fixing it and then you'll fix it yourself after?

no i changed my plan the fees for the ticket is only 54 dollars when safelite is gonna be 149, so i went with the cheaper plan of just paying the ticket for now and am gonna get a windshield from the junkyard and install it myself

Pay for new glass! Since it will most likely get worse as it gets colder, and you defrost your windshield, and hit bumps, etc...

I am pretty sure there is a gasket involved too. So you'll probably need a new one. I'm not sure I'd go that route but good luck to you.

How bad is this crack? You can have them repaired some items for around $50

take a picture before the repair and after the repair if you do it yourself. it will be the prosecutor's choice whether or not the fine stands.

I heard that you can now pass nj inspection with a cracked windshield.

Oh and I also say get it fixed professionally

you could also pass with no seatbelts. doesn't mean you can't get a ticket.

so i called the Violations Bureau earlier and they said that the ticket was filled in wrong by the officer that a court summons is not necessary and that the date put on the ticket as an incorrect date, i thought it was wrong when i had a summons for 7 pm on Sunday, my friend work for a company that professionally installs windshields so hes gonna help me do it cheaply, i also have a cracked drivers side rear view mirror can i get a ticket for that also???

Yea, I got a ticket for a cracked drivers mirror, but I had been stopped for speeding and he gave me that as a break.
