Good, they can pay off more of their bailout lol. Hopefully it's nothing funny with the #'s, but good timing since the IPO is coming out soon.

In before the haters.

Good for GM, too. I am happy to see forward progress.

I'd like to see proof of those numbers.

What Jeff said, it's easy to jot some numbers on a piece of papers and flaunt it around to make it sound like progress is being made, rather then to actually show it. I don't think it's 2bln, but Im sure they ae in the green lately, and I hope it continues that way.

Its amazing how much money you can make when you get rid of worthless brands whos buyers have zero loyalty, reduce manufacturing costs, and build compeditive products with lots of shared parts.
GM just needs to figure out how to make more money. Ford is making more money of thier cars...mostly because thier cars are made NOT in America.

Slimming down is the only way to make money in this economy..it's a shame they couldn't have done it sooner. Unfortunately there is still a lot of waste in the automotive industry and it appears like all the American manufacturers still have a way to go to really get ahead.

On a side note...anyone know anything about Chrysler? They seem to fly under the radar with all the buzz about GM

Chrysler has hung low, but they are releasing a ****-load of product for 2011. Redesigned 300 and Charger have all new wrappers and interiors. Challenger gets a brand new interior.
The Sebring is dead, and will be reborn as the 200.
The Avenger is also refreshed inside and out.
Jeep got a whole bunch of upgrades. the new Grand Cheroke is beautiful, and the Wrangler got a fantastic interior upgrade that would look great in a Land Rover.
Dodge and Chrysler also have brand new logos.

The new Charger looks really nice, and the Grand Cherokee is awesome (just wondering how expensive it's gonna be to lift it). I don't like what they have been doing with the Wrangler lately though. They seem to be adding more plastic and electrical do-dads every time you turn around. While I understand that not all JK owners are off-road die-hards and they want some creature comforts, Jeep has built their entire brand on simple vehicles that could take a beating off road, and they seem to be completely walking away from that.

Chrysler is trash. I'm glad for GM!(Only company I would buy cars from) Also for those that don't believe they made a 2 bil profit why not? Ford made a 8 bil profit last quarter I believe

Ford did not make 8 billion...I think it was around GM. Thing is, Ford is still making more money off the finance arm then the cars. I heard on CNBC today, that GM is making about 3 grand per car, where 2 years ago, they were losing about 1800-2k per car.
If the market picks up that 5-6 million cars, and GM can pick up market share with that....

We'll see how all of this turns out....if they do truly turn around I'll eat crow(even though I still don't agree with the government getting involved). How many other people will? I'll admit if I was wrong.

I will say this though, from a warranty and dealer support standpoint GM hasn't changed at all lol...they're still douche nozzles.
