Anyone ever heard of this piece? I have to replace the cover on my 12 bolt with something slimmer to clear a Watts link and am thinking about this unit. It looks pretty nifty and makes it really easy to check up on whats going on in there, which will be far more inaccessible after I install the watts link. I'm mostly worried about leaks as it does not come with a gasket as far as I know. Some off-road magazine did a review on it and said the thing couldn't be penetrated with a bullet and they were also unable to put enough weight on the thing to get it to touch the gears. They also said they could not get it to leak.

Leaks? No. Does not dissipate heat? Yes.

Doesnt the gas tank prevent anyone from seeing it?

I am pretty sure my ride height would prevent anyone from seeing it. It would mostly be a way for me to keep an eye on whats going on in there. My car sits alot, so condensation is a concern. As Bill said though, heat dissipation would likely be an issue, and that alone is enough to turn me off from it. I'll just replace the fluid every two or three years instead.

I had those things. They were kinda fun, but they broke a lot.

unless your diff fluid looks like water like in the picture all you are going to see is fluid dripping down.

I would like this cover for me being able to see. I dont care about other people seeing it. Makes Checking fluid and 2 second job..

just as quick as a stock cover, just you can see the fluid in this one. I wouldn't change it based on how it looks just time and known driving conditions, i have been doing mine once a year.
the mac or t/a covers would be faster service since the have a drain plug to, and they are supposed to eliminate some heat.
its cool though no real benefits that i can see
