We're gonna get a lot because I just blew out a brake line in the Z71 this morning! It's like deja vu all over again. :| I blew out the brake lines in the 4Runner last December but I didn't think it would happen this quick in the Chevy. I know the brake lines rusting is an issue and mine were rusty when I got the truck last March, but I cleaned them up and painted them with POR 15. At least I lost them this morning on the way to my parents as opposed to driving in the snow on Monday. This will probably be the only snow storm we get this winter and my 4x4 will be in the garage again. I can't win.

Apparently they don't meet my standards! I guess it's a good thing I'm used to the old cars where you had to pump the brakes because I'm getting good at driving vehicles with leaking fluid. The good news is that it happened in clear conditions and not in the middle of a snow storm.

Stayed in. As for the rest of the family, we were prepared here. Pops got a new AWD CTS, got new tires for my sister's Lexus RX, and new tires and hooked up the plow on my quad. My dad came home raving about how impressed he was with the CTS' performance in the snow. He said it was the best in the snow he has ever driven. Haldex FTW.

Yeah most of the pics you see on the internet of wrecks are of SUVs and other 4WD vehicles. Most of the people that drive them think they're invincible, which is pretty stoopid.

The street was worst if i don't understand ppl an 18 wheel get stuck in this snow ur talk 10000 pound dual axle and over 500 tp with snow chains getting stuck and you think your lower honda can make on bald tires. oo and the Audi and Subaru AWD club flying all over the place and flashing and beeping at me to go faster, but getting stuck or crashing. then you have ppl thinking just because i have a plow i need to get them out for free ? what really.

The Norlun Trough I have never seen such a snow storm setup.
http://i.imwx.com/web/news/2011/january/norlun-trough-010511-439x326.jpg
Air is forced to rise near this feature. Instability associated with this so-called "Norlun instability trough" (NIT, for short) can produce snowfall rates of several inches per hour in snowbands only 25-50 miles wide. The width and intensity of these NIT snowbands are similar to lake-effect snowbands.
Where these NIT snowbands persist the longest...you guessed it...the heaviest accumulations occur.
Right now, the best chance of significant snow appears to target northeast Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, and the Catskills northward into the Mohawk Valley of New York, possibly including parts of the New York City metro area Friday into early Saturday. Again, this is mainly due to the possible appearance of NIT snowbands.

Just wait until next week, Tuesday is looking like the potential for a significant coastal storm. It's too early to worry about it right now, but start paying attention by the end of the weekend.

Check the plastic on the sides, that tends to crack in the extreme cold especially if its OEM from '94. I had a 4" hairline crack down mine that I couldn't really see during the winter.

We had 6-7" from yesterday's early storm and another 13-14" overnight. The bed of my pickup was full to the top of the tailgate. It took 2 hours with the snowblower to clear the driveway (double wide), the end by the road was plowed 3-4' high and part of the sidewalk. I had a pile almost 5' high from the stuff at the end of the drivway and when I went back to clear the sidewalk part of the pile broke off and made it's own avalanch back into the driveway! I'm at work now, we had a 1 hour delayed opening and a lot of the roads are really bad still. The Z71 does pretty good though.

Beasted the driveway clean, and was quite amused to see a pair of like 10 year olds on a lawn tractor with a plow and chains blasting down the street looking for work.
That was followed by a little toyota tacoma I think, with a plow that looked like it just attached via a front tow hitch...?

Tooo....much.....snow....
I'm seriously running out of space to put it. The pile right next to my driveway is almost 5' high. I also had to climb the ladder and shovel off my awning because it was starting to cave under the weight of the snow.

5 feet is nothing compared to what I have at the end of my driveway, sides of my driveway, or by my street.
We got like 15-17" or something like that, but it compressed too, very heavy snow

Well, it is the entire length of my driveway, which counts for something. And once you see me in person, you'll understand why the snow mountain being 5' high really sucks. :) I don't own a snowblower either (no where to put one).

the snow can stop, esp when the snow banks at the shoppin plaza are almost as tall as my Front loader, makes it hard to see going back onto the roads

We are supposed to have a bit more snow / sleet / rain Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by cold temps for the rest of the week.

I used to date the sister of a girl that is now a meterologist for the weather channel. Once I asked her if they placed insight into their predictions or simply reported whet the computer model was saying. She explained all that went into the prediction and its amazing to me that they are as close as they are.

i picked up my V from the body shop yesterday. It was done 2 weeks ago, i finally had a day that was sunny and roads were clear. Now today its snowing once again, which is common here. But at least the V is now back here safely and doesn't need to go out, thats what the Cruze is for.
