I've driven a few stock and lightly modded Evo 8's. Not my personal choice but fun cars nonetheless. Looks like the miles decently low for the year but always a little leery buying modded turbo cars with a healthy amount of work.

Have fun with it. Any plans?

i like it without a wing, but would love it with a hood with no vents...

i like it without a wing

yea? i think that bumper makes it look like a saggy old ass... the wing supported it and made the back look decent, now im no fan of ricer wings but these and the cobalt ss's and srt4's need them... its just the look

Mike

i could have it either way really... but i like it with no wing or a lip spoiler best

GrandmasterCow
12-30-2010, 06:16 PM
i have the lip spoiler just not on yet. i don't have a wing yet but i'm back and forth about getting a stock one for it. some say the wing is a cop attractant, some say its not. car is lots of fun, just try to stay outta boost or my gas guage takes a dive. lol

Congrats! Neat, fun cars. Change the hood and maybe put on a lip spoiler and it'd be pimp

Good luck with it. A turbo car that you can drive in this winter weather, whats not to like!

Hoods can be swapped easily! I really like that generation Evo too just the way it is. Good luck!

I have a lip spoiler just not on. I want to get the hood redone because clear coat is damaged, but right now might look for a stocker.

I have lots more pics plus I'll take some interior. I always loved these cars they have just been so difficult to find affordable.

I dont think clear coat is gonna help that hood, dosent look like it was ever clear coated.
Edit: weres the pics of the ricer lights you were so proud of at the meet lastnight?

same thing happened to this hood that happens to the stock evo wings with the CF - peel and CC comes off and needs to be redone. if you look closer at the hood you'll notice some clearcoat in some areas still in tact but the hood needs to be redone. i am gonna look for stock hood for cheap cuz this hood might be expensive to i guess get done, not sure yet.

Yes but when cf isnt clear coated, which that one dosent look like it has been, UV radiation and exposure destroy the resins in it. In other words if you clear it its still not going to look like a new carbon fiber hood.

i remember reading how expensive the clear coat on the carbon fiber ZR1 roof is

I'm pretty sure uv exposed cf changes color. I'm neighbor had a scion and it turned to a goldish color.

Bare Kevlar exposed to sunlight - cracks very fast!!
Carbon Fiber w/ resin instead of epoxy exposed to light - yellows, cracks, and fades
Carbon Fiber w/ Epoxy - resists fading, cracking, and yellowing alot more

9 times out of 10, a carbon fiber hood you see, especially on eBay, will have a layer or two of carbon fiber, and the bottom half uses fiberglass. The problem with that is fibre glass adds weight, and they use the resin for both the carbon fiber and fibergalss instead of the proper product which is epoxy. Resin costs a fraction of what epoxy does.
Also resin cracks alot easier then epoxy.

Not sure what is on this hood but the hood is 750$ new.

sounds like it's a Carbon/Fiberglass/Resin hood. None the less, if there's a clear coat, take it off, wet sand it, and have it recoated, or just have it painted. even better, is you can do the F40 paint job, have one thin coat applied so you can still see the Carbon fiber weave and yet hide the yellowing of the resin.

This is how mine's supposed to look like when it's in good condition:
