In the American sports car landscape, the Chevrolet Camaro (http://www.autoblog.com/model/camaro) is the king... of sales for 2010. For the first time since 1985, the Camaro has outsold its arch rival, the Ford Mustang (http://www.autoblog.com/model/mustang). In fact, Chevrolet (http://www.autoblog.com/make/chevrolet/) sold 7,655 more of its sporty coupes than the Blue Oval. General Motors (http://www.autoblog.com/make/gm/) moved 81,371 Camaros compared to 73,716 Mustangs.

It's gunna be a good 2011. Camaro gets a drop top, a Z28, and a higher output V6. Also there will be an upgraded suspension system for the SS.
..."higher output V6" as in same exact v6 just officially "verified" for more hp than the v6 stang? lol

Not surprised considering it was the first full year the Camaro was offered. Should do pretty well this year with all the new stuff, but has to compete against the new motors in the Mustangs too this year.
2012 will be the real test once the Camaro is settled.

I read up to 325 hp possibly, they called it the LFX.

In reality, if I were shopping for a Pony car, my first choice would be the Mustang.

now with the 5.0 and real hp numbers i think mustang will have the sales again in 2011. i like both but the mustang would be my choice if i went with a new one.

LFX will be a revised version of the 3.6, but using some developments they picked up with the smaller 3.0 series engine. Different intake design, better exhaust manifolds, etc etc.
325-330hp is the target with torque to match.

The 2011 Mustang GT is rated at 412 hp/390 lb-ft. Motor Trend dyno'd it at 435 hp/404 lb-ft. And when they tested the '11 Mustang, Camaro and Challenger models, the Mustang had the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. So if you're a performance nut, the Mustang is the way to go. Having owned mostly all GM product, it's good to see the Camaro beating out its competition. But personally, I like the look and package of the Mustang better.

Hopefully with better timing chains and gears, if I have to replace one more under warranty I'm gonna scream.

Good news for GM yea I just read about all the improvements none really matter to me excepth the FE4 suspension upgrade. Wonder what it consists of? I wonder if its magnetic shocks or gears are involved?

Dont know what motortrend did but Most people with the new GT's dyno stock 340-350 Rwhp in a auto and 365-375 in a MT.. I still venture over to my Mustang forums from back in the day and thats what I have been seeing.. With Kooks Longtubes, full exhaust, JLT Cold Air intake, and a tune they make 420-430 rwhp with a MT and 375-385 in a Auto.. Very sick numbers for a all motor mustang..
The thing about the mustang is how much will big mods cost for it? I know with the older 4.6's doing a cam swap in a 2 valve was just around 1000.00 in cams and springs alone if not more. The new 5.0 is a high compression motor so after you spend the money on all the bolt ons and what not whats next? You have to get 4 cams which I could only imagine how much that will run for the parts, cant do a blower anymore because of the higher compression.
Being a performance nut I think the GT Mustang is a great buy for the power but in the long run it will cost to much for me anyways to do any major mods to it that I would want to do to it..
