Westboro Baptist Church is at it again, this time right here in Bordentown. They are planning to protest this Saturday at the funeral of U.S. Army Spc. Benjamin Moore, a Bordentown native.

A member of the 693rd Engineer Company out of Fort Drum, N.Y., Moore, 23, was one of three soldiers killed in an IED (improvised explosive device) attack in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province on Jan. 12.

Family members say Moore, a private first class who was posthumously promoted to specialist, was driving a truck when the roadside bomb exploded.

A volunteer firefighter and certified emergency medical technician, Moore collected a slew of medals after joining the Army in April 2009, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.

There is a Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_193635357317127&ap=1) with well over 1200 members in less than 2 days that is committed to helping to shield Moore's family and friends from the protests of WBC, and the Patriot Guard Riders (http://www.patriotguard.org/) will be there as well to assist.

Went to High School with Ben, he was a few years younger. Such a shame. I called a friend who rides patriot guard...they WILL be there, we are a member of the church the funeral is being held and they also have many others coming in to help keep those scum bags out.

I think the Governor signed or tried to sign a bill that gave the funerals a 300ft buffer.

Agreed. It's irresponsible ******** like them that draw attention to a very sacred right...it's ******** like them that make people start to question that right and want to limit it. Very irresponsible. There are very few people in this world that I wish harm on....they(the entire group) are one of them. Complete and utter disrespect.

Gusciora did note a 2006 law passed by the state Legislature that bars protests within 500 feet of funerals. Violators may face a disorderly persons charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

... yeah about that whole reading thing ...

AZ state legislation passed the bill and Gov Brewer signed the bill in 1 day out here. It states that protesters must be a min 300 ft away from the area for 1 hour before until 1 hour after the funerals. It got passed because the same nut jobs wanted to protest the funeral of the 9 year old girl that died in the shooting. These people are just sick. I mean come on, she was 9 years old.

On another note, Ben's funeral is supposedly at the church that the father of one of my ex's from HS is a pastor at.

doesnt any one have respect for the deceased....especially someone who gave there life so people like this can protest something. i may not agree with this war totally, but i still support our soldiers and they deserve it, and if one does fall you DO NOT protest at his funeral, that is so disrespectful

For those that are going, please be careful and don't do anything stupid lol. These idiots feed on the reaction shown to them, they feed on anger and violence thrown their way. They would love nothing more than seeing people going to jail for throwing stuff at them, etc. They're not stupid people(they have a lot of lawyers in their congregation).

However, if they all accidentally get shot it would be such a shame....

These people don't do it cause they believe in it, they do it for attention, and only attention. They love that people are talking about them, they love that the media is always trying to interview them, or they are on the front page of the newspaper. It's negative attention, but none the less, this put them on the map, and that's exactly what they were going for. I hate these people so utterly much, I wish some psychopath who wanted to take out a few people would do so. I would deem him/her a hero, and I would expect the courts to give them just a slap on the wrist.

I hope it goes south, becomes a riot, and one of the protestors gets killed. Then we can go protest his or her funeral.

that be nice.

i prey that this just dosent even happen and the attentional needs are filled just with the media already generated...

it just makes an already sad day- worst.

my wishes to the family for a peaceful day

no see they haven't got there a$$ kicked hard enough thats the problem, once you really beat the piss out of them then they will get the message, i mean who you going to sue if a whole town beats ur ass  or a unmarked fbody just happen to be left in drive and runs them all over.

....and that's exactly the reaction they want...so not only do the disrupt the funeral service they also agitate the people enough to make them lash out.

They have gotten their asses beat, they've had their church vandalized to no end, they finally got surrounded their church in Lawrence, KS with a wall(so I've heard, a friend lives out that way).

The more people react the more they do it. They're complete and utter scumbags but no need for the violence....however if you want to drive that unnamed Fbody into their crowd that's all you. :D

...i dont even have to voice my opinion, its a given.

however, threats and physical harm doesnt phase them and they dwell on it and the attention as stated before. what should be done.... is someone should get a hold of some good pics of them protesting, and go to work with photoshop, edit in their signs and such.. anything offensive and replace it with "support our troops" mottos and similar sayings,. Then FLOOD the internet with these chopped photos, make em SO widespread and known that when this topic is ever brought up again, the average computer/internet literate person will know about the altered pics. Yes people will know they are made up, BUT the true protesters, i think, would not find it funny AT ALL. That may get the biggest rise out of them.

Listen if your going to go to be a part of the anti-protest do so in a peaceful manner.
The WBC would love it if the funeral was disrupted, and since the whole family is lawyers they will sue you and the police will have to arrest you.
If your going to show up be there to show your support for the family and to honor the solider.
Trust me I would love to beat the living out of all of them and without remorse.
But lets think of the family.

I joined the FB group it doesn't seem to have any kind of organization yet, If anyone hears anything about where to meet or anything, please PM and vice versa.

Why not go to the funeral, stand infront of them at the picket line, but facing the same direction they would, and hold huge ass signs to block them out, and blasting patriotic music to drown out their chanting. Id say about a dozen or so 4X8's should be sufficiant enough :)

as a Marine myself I can say this type of thing I take personal. Young men give their life every single day for this country and dont deserve to have this scum anywhere near their funeral. I believe in freedom of speech but this is overboard. I hope that none of these animals make it near the service.

Armed with neon signs with slogans such as “Thank God for IEDs,” the church, recognized widely as an anti-gay group, has protested at thousands of funerals, football games and other events.

At the end of the day, despite authorities setting up a staging area well out of sight from the graveside service, no protesters from the group made an appearance.

Some photos from the services today: http://photos.nj.com/4506/gallery/funeral_for_us_army_private_benjamin_moore_from_bo rdentown/index.html?fromentry=5600002&fromblog=2292

It's great to see the HUGE outpouring of support from the community that Ben's family and friends had. I also really like the fact that his casket wasn't transported to the graveside by a hearse, but rather by a firetruck from the department that he volunteered for. That must have been so moving for them. Wish I could have been there to show my support as well.
