I just got an iPod touch and I love it. What are some cools apps that you guys use? I use aim alot but the aim app closes when you exit it so you can't receive messages. Is there any other messaging apps that stay running without having it open?

I have Droid phone and my favorite app is Pandora radio. That stays open and I can do whatever else I want... like post this reply.

Since no one else has said it.....Angry Birds.
Others from the App Store that I used a fair amount over the last couple of years:
- Flashlight (I have the one by JohnHaney SW)
- Units (good measurement converter)
- MPG (by Catamount Software - it's a great tool for keep track of MPG and vehicle maintenence, and well worth the few dollars. This is also being ported over to Android)
- Pandora
- Yelp / Urbanspoon
- PhoneFlicks (manages my netflix queue)
- Netflix Instant Viewing
- ESPN ScoreCenter
- IMDb
- TweetDeck
- Sol Free (best solitaire app out there, IMO)
- Boxed In (another fun game that makes you think a bit)
- Amateur Surgeon
- Let's Golf
- CraigsPro (nice craigslist manager)
Oh, and my Droid X is just a hair thicker and no more than 1/2" longer than my 2nd gen ipod touch. Fits in my jeans pocket just fine. :D

I just installed it on my ipod touch the other day because my 3 year old son was asking for it....I had never played it before, and now i'm addicted. I let him play on my touch, and I have it installed on my droid.

I have the HTC incredible and its my first smartphone so I'm enjoying even the stupid apps like the beer one. I think they have that helicopter game as a free app; look up copter classic.

Found this on another site, anyone have it?
"I've checked in on Steve Rupp's video from RTTC where Nathan is driving a BFG VIP a couple of times. I really like the info from Steve's racepak. Got me wanting to spend $$$ on another thing I don't need but really WANT.
So today I'm playing around with my IPhone and a lightbulb goes off. The Iphone has GPS and accelerometers maybe someone has an app to record some data. Doing some basic searches on my phone in the app store showed fairly poor results.
However, when searching on google I came across an app mentioned in a few places. Harry's Laptimer. I'm still reading up on it but thought I'd ask if anyone here has used it and let others like me who haven't learn about it.
This thing will take video of every other lap and record data for every lap. It needs the off laps to process the video. You can even make a video on your phone with a track overlay with speeds. "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUE1zTcywos
"I bought the pro version. Whipped up a quickie mount with a spare phone cover and the suction cup mount from my GPS unit and went for a little spin in the daily. The app is pretty cool! I wont post video, as I reserve the right to not incriminate myself, but I can certainly see how cool it would be on a track. I'll be putting it to use next month for sure. "
thought this was a great idea, might have to try

That sounds cool. How much is the app? I don't think my battery could record a video for a whole lap.

There's a game called Stupid Zombies that is kind of fun. Its worth checking out, but it's a total rip-off of Angry Birds and it isn't as good.
It will kill a train ride or a few hours for you though.
