any mods to ride 18x10.5 in the rear?

so i dented one of my rims on a pothole in sayerville as you may have read...
anyways i was thinking about going this route:


FITMENT: Fits stock 4th generation Camaros 1993 - 2002 and stock Firebird & 4th generation Trans Am - 1993 - 2002

MAKE: Corvette
PRODUCT: C5 Style Deep Dish
FRONT WHEEL SIZE: 17x9.5
FRONT WHEEL OFFSET: 54mm
REAR WHEEL SIZE: 18x10.5
REAR WHEEL OFFSET: 56mm
BOLT PATTERN: 5-120.65
FINISH: Polished

this way ill get a new look, and only have to buy 2 new tires..

My question is: do i have to change anything to ride 18x10.5 in the back?

I cut off the bump stops, they will hit on the inside of the wheel over large bumps etc. Depending on the tire size, you'll probably have to hammer your inner fender some.

What type of aspect ratio tire would you run on the 18s? None of my business really but if you live in a pothole-riddled area you may not want to go to a larger wheel if it means you will have a smaller sidewall. Taco'ing a brand new rim is not fun.

where we live pot holes are a pretty big problem. i hope they start filling them in soon

Hahaha awesome, I'm a big fan of cutting off the stops. Those pics sum it up though, when the suspension is fully unloaded on say a lift or a large bump, the stop mounts hit on the inside of the rim.

Again what size tire would you recommend? And pot holes I would say are are just as much of a problem everywhere with te exception of Rt 9 in Sayreville .. Ibknow where they all are now lol or at least I pay more attention to them... It's this terrible winter that's worsened everything ...

Yeah like I said Rt 9 in sayrville is terrible just gotta keep your eyes open.. They are too big for them not to fill them over the spring or summer ..

On a side note anyone know of a bent zr1 rim can be fixed for the mean time?

How bad is the bend? There are some wheel shops around that can fix bent wheels.

I run Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals in 295/35R18 on my 18 x 10.5 wheels. They fit well IMO.

I'll check em out... It's not that bad but you can see it.. It kinda just flattened a small section... Still holding air and tiny vibration if any

Might just want to look into a rebalance and see what kind of weight it takes to correct it or how bad it shimmies on the machine/highway.

I think I'll do that... Maybe save up for those other wheels anyway lol

The wider tires may get close to the fender lips on one side so you may need an adjustable Panhard rod to recenter the wheels. If your car is lowered at all you will need one. I have the 3/4" drop and with 9.5 rims with 285 DRs the drivers side was about a 1/2 closer to the wheel openeing then the pass side. So if your going witha 315 tire, it could be close. But a PR is fairly cheap and easy to install.

If you don't want to cut the car up there is a company that makes bump stops that are more inbound. Or you could just build a mount out of a peice of steel and buy bump stops (the round type are common) at any parts store.

fyi, what ever you do, dont drive down the middle lane of rt 9 north or south anywhere! there are craters in the road that are like half the size of my car that are like 2 feet deep. every day more of the road is coming up. its beyond patching now.

Hahaha the bend isn't too bad I'll post a pic later or tomorrow ... Anyone know of any of these wheel shops near central jersey? If it can be fixed I'd like to do that asap regardless
