So browsing Craigslist I found a bike for sale for $1,900. First off thats way to good to be true but my curiosity got the best of me and I emailed for more information and got this response:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest for my bike ( 2008 YAMAHA YZF-R1). I sell it at this price ($ 1,900 ) because i just finished the divorce with my husband. It has 6300 miles!!!This bike is paid off, clean title,i have title in hand.
The divorce has finished 6 months ago and the bike is mine now. After the divorce I was forced to buy a new house. Following the financial crisis I can't afford to pay the bank and I decided to sell the bike. As you can see by the pictures it is in excellent condition. This bike runs as good as a new one and has no dings, dents, or scratches.
The bike is located in TUCSON,AZ, if you want to buy it.
I'm very busy with my job and I'm out of town so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my bike over the Internet.
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services (I will receive the payment only after you receive and inspect the bike and only if you agree to buy it).
We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account. The last price for this bike is $1,900. I will pay for shipping and handling(the loan of my previous buyer didn't get approved) so there won't be any additional shipping costs).
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address for shipping so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer (if you are interested to buy) very soon.

Is there any ways I can go about to see if this is legit? I mean i've heard of these things happening especially being in the military so who the heck knows!

Im with the pottery master.
If she said that she was trying to **** over her ex, I would even buy that. Heading out to AZ would still be a trip for you. I hate when I get emails saying "ohh I will be out of town, but you can.." I usually stop reading.

I guess next step would be a phone call to make sure this is 100%, or a friend to go out there with you.

Know anybody in Arizona? or road trip. I wouldn't throw that amount of money around online without seeing the merchandise in hand. That right there sounds etch-a-sketch to me.

Ebay does not offer such a service.

unless she sets up a buy it now and has u purchase it that way. but even then, sounds fishy.

if anything, just ask her for the ebay ID, and check out feedback. if that seems solid, email/contact her that way and see if it actually gets to the right person, or they write back saying they have no clue about any bike.

first thing that caught my eye was when she said "... because i just finished the divorce with my husband." followed by "The divorce has finished 6 months ago ...."

also, look at the grammer and wording. It definately sounds like someone with poor english , and the use of parenthesis (). An '08 R1 with even 10k miles will sell for more than 4,000$. also, shipping an item, especially a vehicle, BEFORE payment? sounds too fishy.

From the old saying, "IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS"! As soon as the back of your hair starts to stand up and you smell a rat, RUN not walk away from this unless you want to fly out to Arizona for a quick vacation.
