1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Time for me to move on. I will be 100% up front about this thing. I am selling because the Nova is my fun car and I need something more practical now.
Yes, I wrote a book. Like I said, up front.
Some basics:
Car was bought from Rassas Pontiac and owned from '96 to 2000 by a woman who drove it to and from NC, then I drove it for 10+ years. It is a white 2 door with leather black interior. Heads up display, 6 CD changer, 10 speaker stereo, steering wheel radio controls. Everything on the car works. No lights on the dash. It has left me stranded a single time in 10 years- due to a fuel pump resistor issue.
Mobil 1 full synth every 3,000 miles with K&N filters. Fuel filters every 10k, S/C oil every 30k. Currently 158k on the engine. Blue book is $2800 for a stock GTP optioned like mine. I am asking $2500 firm with all of the upgrades. And by firm I mean exactly that- I am asking below blue book because I don't want to deal with tire kickers and typical car sale BS. The trans alone cost almost as much as my asking price and has not that many miles on it. Car has not seen the track since it was stock. I might do a trade if you have something interesting. Maybe a pickup or w/e.
Bad:
1) I have been the victim of a few hit and runs. People suck. As such, there is a shallow baseball sized dent in the front passenger fender, the passengers rear quarter has a wave in it, and the rear bumper cover has some paint coming off of it. Rest of the paint is in OK shape. No fade in the clear coat and still shines up well with a wax job. Basically the body is not really beatboxy but it will need work to be nice again.
2) This car will need strut mounts and new struts. If you drive it there is a rattle in the rear driver's side from a bad strut mount. Up front there’s a shudder that could be a tire out of round or need for an alignment.
3) There is a front valve cover leak (I think). It does not leak a lot, it's just annoying.
4) It needs a new lower door speaker on the passenger side. I am including a set of PowerBass speakers to replace them.
5) The brakes are getting low and probably should be replaced.
6) Interior is worn, but not ratty and smelly. Seats have small 2" tears in the side bolsters.
7) Trunk light bulb is out.
Good
1) Engine runs strong. 60lbs of oil pressure and 20" of Hg like it had stock. No smoke, no stumble, nothing. Was converted to Peak Global from Dex-Cool.
2) New transmission 20k miles ago. Built by Eric at Dynotech performance. It is a Dynotech stage II- rated at 550hp. Upgraded clutch packs, custom valve body, 300M upgraded input shaft, chain upgrade, 3.29 gear swap (stock is 2.93 for a GTP), Pro-Torque 3000 stall converter. Works flawlessly. Will tug going from 1-2 a little during regular shifting and will hit hard from 1-2 in performance mode.
3) Engine has a custom tune. Was originally a DHP mail order (tuned for a 180 thermo, fans on after shutdown, will shift from 3-1 at WOT unlike stock). Eric did a tune on it for the new gears and some more power.
4) Speed parts/aftermarket stuff- SLP cold air induction, S-Trim ported supercharger, Thrasher 3.4" modular pulley system, garlock gaskets. 36# injectors flowed and rebuilt by WitchHunter performance 25k ago. Fuel pump hotwire kit installed. MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 plugs. Denso front O2 to allow for race gas use. Drilled 180* thermostat. 2.5" downpipe with Magnaflow cat into an SLP Loudmoth w/Dynomax bullet. 3 hole pillar gauges are Autometer Ultralite oil pressure, voltmeter, and trans temp. At the base of the pillar is a 2 5/8 Sport comp boost gauge. Lighting is tied into dimmer switch. Struts are KYB gas-a-justs. Brake pads are Hawk HPS. Car has GMPP suspension kit on it except for the STBs (Upgraded front and rear sway bars, upgraded rear LCAs). Tires are Riken Raptor 245/50/16's and are less than a year old with few miles.
1) Lower intake manifold gaskets were replaced with the aluminum revised ones
2) S/C was replaced 40k ago due to a bad coupler
3) New rack and pinion, new hoses, new PS pump 10k ago
4) New fuel pump, sender, and hotwire kit installed 10k ago
5) New blower motor 2k ago
6) New water pump 40k ago
7) New IAC valve and coolant level sensor 20k ago.
8) New motor mounts (solid rubber vs. the stock oil filled)
9) New door weatherstripping 18 mos ago.
10) Drilled 180* thermostat
11) Mobil 1 & K&N, fuel filter change 2 weeks ago
And an assortment of other doodads like steering wheel controls, etc.
