Nothing.

No door bars = not a roll bar.

Technically you need just the driver door bar

Nothing is the correct answer. No door bars = not NHRA legal. It does not appear to have swing outs removed, either. That main hoop is smooth.

Are swingout's legal? I really don't want to climb over door bars in a dd but the idea of a vert is growing on me..

Swing outs are good to 8.50, you are good.

Yeah, rear bars need to be welded to the main hoop as well.

Is that Ed's car?

I don't know who's car it is..It is supercharged that's all I know..

In all seriousness at what E.T. Would atco get on a convertible for not having a bar?

They busted my chops when I was running 13.00. I'll be adding a wolfe 6 pt with swingouts this season.

And yea, thats Ed Blown Vert's car....383 ls1 with D1SC....makes 666 to the wheels with a small shot (high altitude).

Convertibles need a roll bar from 10.0 to 13.5. They will probably let you go low 12s though but you never know. ****'s supposed to get tight there.

In previous years, yes. This year and moving forward I have heard that they will be getting much more strict with tech inspections so maybe not.

That guy needs more bar. Ignoring the obvious safety aspect that car must twist nicely.

$0.02 – a convertible with a cage is not the world’s most practical college car. From a safety viewpoint it renders your back seat useless because the human head is not equipped to come in contact with the bars without negative repercussions. Belts stretch, people move around a lot in a collision. At some point in your college life you’ll get talked into driving somewhere and all you need to do is have some idiot run a light and hit you and blammo you have your own lawsuit to worry about. I commend you on considering the cage in the first place.

Also, I don’t know the area well, but in general college campuses are theft targets and soft tops are easy pickings. Just saying.

Carry on.

Most colleges do not allow freshman to have cars on campus, and even more so, as a freshman why would you wanna leave? Best year right there...

If I get that vert I would be letting go of a toy in the near future so I can afford to keep my DD... As for a college car I'm still waiting for my admission letters but I just heard of a program of felician college that runs through MCC.. It's like $100 more a credit than Kean but Accepts more transfer credits(I get free tuition at mcc) so that's high on my list right now..

Hopefully a nice hardtop or TTop car will pop up because I won't be going 11.50's and a bar is going to be really annoying..

I went 11.575 last Nov with no bar.. Out of the 7 runs I did that most of them were 11.6-11.7 lol No one said anything to me. But before I go this year I'll have a bar in there.

In a vert 13.49 or faster requires a bar. And in the car that was posted above it is just a harness bar. You can see that it bolts in (look at the bars right behind the hoop. You'll see a cap bolt)

there are rumors of atco making a crackdown on tech this year

i thought it was lowered to 11.99?.. cuz theyre are plenty of cars that come close to or beating 12.0 stock in convertible form

Cut for 'verts is 13.50 as it was 14.0 just a few years back. Hardtop and T-top cars can go to 11.50 without a bar.

As it was explained to me a couple years ago (could have changed), once the car was modified, it fell into NHRA rules. I had this argument in the tower at Etown and this is what they told me. Didn't care enough to argue and Atco didn't give me a problem.

The car will have a 6 pt this year anyway so that is one issue I won't have to worry about.

This is true. Once you change so much as an air filter, if they catch you, you need a cage. Same goes for cars like Z06s that can go faster than 11.49 in hardtop form from the factory.

Swing out are legal and basically can be removed when street driving. I have an S+W and my swing out bolt in at the pivot. I've seen other ( finish line racing I think made it) where the swing out, lifts off a pivot point making it a breeze to remove: pull the pin, swing it out, lift up = done.

But if a vert, I'd do solid bars to add stiffness.
