Looking to replace the rear deck speakers in a 2001 Grand AM GT. Has the stock Monsoon system in it and the rear speakers are shot.

From what I have seen you need to bypass the factory amp for aftermarket speakers to work? The stock system has four inputs (2+ 2-) for the woofer and tweeter. The aftermarket setups have just 2 inputs (1+ 1-).

Is there a way to make this work without bypassing the stock amp? Perhaps separating the aftermarket speakers from each other to make 4 inputs? Obviously cutting and splicing would void the warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In case this helps, looking at Sony Xplod gt1627a on crutchfield ( a pair they said would work, but would have to replace the factory radio ... ? )

replace with stock monsoons... when i had my TA the rears needed to be replaced and it was by far the best way to go with the least amount of work. i was able to find a new pair from a dealer on ebay pretty cheap and said to be a revised model that was built stronger from monsoon. cant beat plug and play!

found this for example... and ive purchsed items from this seller before

The easiest thing would be to replace with stock like shown above. I wouldnt bypass the amp unless you plan on redoing the whole system. I ripped out my monsoon and rewired with my own in my TA last month.

Heres some reading, its for F-Bodies but the systems are similar...
