Well, a few of you have heard--my new 2010 Lancer was nearly totaled 2 weeks ago by some Connecticut driver . I just want to let everyone know that minus a small spot in my upper back, both myself and my passenger at the time seem to have sustained no injuries.

Definitely sucks about the car though... I really liked it. Still waiting to find out if the other insurance company is just going to total it or not :-(. Just from the auto body repair, it's looking to be $9,000 (this is before any under body / mechanical repairs, like alignment, etc, are made) in damages.

I would demand the car be totaled out and replaced. Fixing that kinda damage is just begging for something to not be right in the end. Not to mention your brand new car is gonna have a collision shop blend paint job on the entire backhalf and its doubtful they'll clear coat it to the end of said blended panel correctly.

Sorry that happened to ya. And the lovely part of living in NJ is that was just as much your fault as his!

Gotta resize the originals, wherever you have them hosted. UBB tags do not accept attributes like HTML tags do.

The other insurance company doesn't seem to want to total it, even with the damages stretching beyond half the car's worth. As far as the color blend is concerned, I was allowed to bring it to any body shop I wanted, and where I brought it; I trust those folks like no other.

The collision took place in Connecticut, so it's 100% the other person's fault. My rates may go up a hair, but the other company is paying 100% on the damages, and the rental car until mine is fixed :-).

The frame was totally untouched, so there's still hope for it driving just as well as it did when I took it off the lot... time will tell, though that thought certainly crossed my mind.

Thanks--I was hoping there was a coding I could use to resize within these forums and not have to re-upload smaller images. Oh well :-)

Hmmm thats a good questions as to whether the fault law is in concern to the state it takes place in or the state you're insured in.

Still though Id go to bat to have it totaled. Just think about the fact that 10 years down the road when you go to sell it the people that will walk away cause carfax shows a major accident...

Definitely true... After he initially hit, he pulled off to the side and drove a little ahead of us... we thought it was a big orange snow plow (that's what it felt like, anyway) before we realized it was my bumper!
