so did they get the auto focus for video down on the DLSRs? be it Canon or Nikon?

i'm pretty much waiting on that before i sell/trade in my DVC-20 for it. i'd love to be able to drag the files rather than sit and capture every shot, plus the added ability to take pictures, and able to get the camera in tighter spots.

I'm not positive but that's mostly what I saw being used at the NY Auto Show. I'd grab a popular photography or other mag and jump on dedicated camera forums.

any direction of an objective camera forum? from what little research i've done the Nikon D3100 looks to be something i could use, I'm not really brand loyal so i'd be willing to look at a Canon too as well as any other brand that meets my criteria.

photography-on-the.net/ and www.fredmiranda.com/ are pretty good but I don't really look for video stuff. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ is good for reviews.

photography-on-the.net is good, but it's a dedicated Canon site.

If I were to get a new one now, I'd get a Nikon D7000. It is the updated version of my D90. 1080p video (10 min at the time) auto focus during video, dual SD car slots, blah blah.

I actually just completed a couple of work & personal shoots on a Canon 5DMkII myself and the auto focus is terribly slow. They have a face tracking mode, but if your pan isn't smooth its not going to be able to keep up. I did notice though in good lighting with a 70-200mm 2.8ISM Canon lens the focus was pretty decent. There's people with the right equipment making entire shows & documentaries with just a 5D.
