View Full Version : Getting closer
I figured i would start a thread instead of posting under the new member area. I have found a car that meets my needs and wants in Canada. It was built there and has a different dash cluster is all i can see is different. 2002 , auto, z28, NO T-TOPS, loaded, all paperwork and stock. He wants $12k plus shipping , which is $1k. It has low miles under 30k and looks immaculate. Price sounds a touch high???

Never bought a car from another country but does the price include taxes and customs costs? I don't know how it all works however I would imagine you can find a similarly optioned US car at the same price or cheaper without the hassle.

yeah, a little high, KBB for the car is around 10k. Is the 12 his asking? or is that what you got him down to? I know every car i ever sold i inflated the price for wiggle room to get what i really wanted after negotiations. I'd try to knock him down to 10, or tell him 11 with shipping absorbed into the price. i've never payed asking price for a vehicle haha
Yes, it includes all costs except whtever i pay here, tax, reg, doc fees.
I am trying to find one in the US but have no luck searching all sites and putting ads in wanted sections. AUTO, NO T-TOP, STOCK(or close), LOW MILEAGE(under 50k), Z28, SS, SS/SLP. 98-02 YEARS. Find one and let me know,,,,, thanks-

For such a low mileage hardtop LS1 car that really isn't that high of a price. Not cheap mind you, but not that exorbitant either.

That's kinda what i figured.

So it has a kph speedo? That is going to be tough to find period. I think the price is just a touch high but within reason.

Speedo is kph over mph, oil is kg and temp is celcius. I'm not worried about dash. I'm still searching. This car isn't going anywhere so i have some time. I have some friends going to Super Chevy this weekend to look also.

Oh in that case, I would probably hold off.
I love the car but with shipping , etc, etc, it would be overpaying for the car too much. I was just notified of some additional fees  Oh well, i will keep looking.

Is that $12000 price in canadian or us dollars?
US, i think it's pretty much a wash either way.
O.k. here's another, 1998 auto, 50k miles,z28,minor mods(exh, shocks)very clean,asking $11,750.00. I booked it and it only books for $85xx.00?

yea thats kinda ridiculous.... maybe if it had 5k miles
That's what i was thinking. No wonder why no one is selling cars. Everyone i think is decent is over book by a few thousand. Even with the add ons and the car being REALLY nice i was thinking $9xxx.00. Crazy....

just for a price comparison i bought a 98 trans am for under $6k 2 years ago with 60k miles on it, needed a few things, i drove it for over a year and then sold it for around $8k
So i called yesterday and asked where the value comes from. the guy tells me he knows what it's worth and can easily trade the car in. He also tells me that Camaros are selling for the same price everywhere. As i see it no one is selling shiot. I'm not looking to steal a car but have cash and want to buy. I refuse to over pay because people are thinking that 98-02 Camaros are going to be a great collector car. My search continues....lol

The 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds are almost all overpriced, and like you said, they are not selling at those prices so most people are unrealistic asking those prices. Obviously you can ask whatever you want for your car, but the real market value will tell you when you're overpriced. Buying a car from out of the country also adds an import fee and if it was never safety certified in the US to begin with then it might need a certification as well.
I was very close on the one from Canada and knew it was going to be a bit over value but i liked it. In the end the costs just added up to be too much. I have recently sold some cars and a trailer. The market sux and you need to adjust your price if you want to sell. I did and sold two race cars and two trailers. Like i said before i am trying to be nice and explain to sellers but they are dead set on price. I'm in no hurry and will wait for what i want.
Moving on to a 2011 Mustang..maybe?? Damn nice cars!!
Well one of my customers has 02 anniv edition ss/slp stoc except exhaust. 40k miles auto not t-top loaded wants $13k. Any suggestions? Is it worth that or what would you pay?

A 35th anniv car? If so that's not bad.
Yes, he says it is. I would assume the orig window sticker will say it? i saw pics but didn't see any 35th stickers or anything. It's not one of the red ones. Are the red ones the only anniv edition?
After looking at the pics it is not 35th anniv edition. Just an SS.
