View Full Version : WOW-Just unreal HEAT for several days COMING!

Heat Index is up to 108* and rising. Global Warming?

I really feel sorry for all the techs that have to work in shops in this crap. How are you guys doing with your F-Body A/C deletes?

Last year we had a run of over 90*+ for like 45 days that wiped out 1/2 my lawn and scrubs. Plus this extreme heat also will melt acid rain particles right into the finish of your car. You'll need to clay bar the paint right after this weather dies off.

Not too bad in my shop today, 97 degrees at my tool box. There is a constant breeze through the bay doors which helps. The heat does not seem to be bothering me as much this year.

I feel bad for the people that have to work outside in this.

It feels weird working inside in the AC. Still not used to office life after working on roofs for years.

I used my A/C in the truck for the first time all year yesterday.

Our tee time is at 4:20 today so we'll find out how bad it really is. There's a decent breeze for now so we should be fine. I just hope the beer cart doesn't overheat!

the blue 88 has great original r12 AC, but with the glass ttops it gets SO hot in the sun it really doesnt have much effect, at night or in the shade its great. i was trying to diagnose the vettes AC problem all week but gave up and put the dash back together this morning and melted, my truck has no AC again so its parked

I get the luxury of working half my week paving and half my week mowing lawns!

Tuesday guess who got the honors of climbing into the back of the pavement dump trucks and shoveling the crap forward all day long?

a jaguar, with leather seats, 2 windows, and no AC is NOT FUN to drive in the sun! Idk why i decided fixing it would be a waste of money -_-

18 holes of golf, carrying the bag, no beer cart but I managed to grab 1 beer for the front 9 and 2 beers for the back 9 and shot an 84 after taking a stupid double bogey on the first hole! It was hot, but there was a nice steady breeze the whole round. The house AC is set at 82 and feels nice and refreshing!

You have got to be just a little crazy to play golf in this weather. I would have gone through 6 pair of underwear, 2 tubes of jock itch cream and passed out walking just to get to the 2nd hole! :willy:

I agree. It also makes it that much better when you come home to a cool house.

Most annoying part is walking out in the morning and the sunglasses insta-fog.

I think you have some faulty equipment. We're at 102 around Trenton but Newark is the hottest right now at 104.

coolmanvette75

Nope brand new thermometer (not in the sun). Hit a high of 110.7 so far. Neighbors have confirmed temps within 2-3 degrees.

JL8Jeff
07-22-2011, 01:33 PM
Everything I'm looking at is showing Old Bridge at 101 so you can't trust your home thermometer. On Tuesday our thermometer was showing 121 with the sun hitting it as I was going out to play volleyball. Within an hour and half storms moved through and it was down to 80!

What a difference between yesterday and today though, even with the temps being very close (100 yesterday and 102 today) the breeze we had yesterday made a huge difference.

07-22-2011, 02:45 PM
Yea weather.com is showing old bridge at 101, but 5 of my neighbors (including myself) have high readings above 107 (Im on the shady side of the street). My firends brand new civic said 115 but I think that was a little off.

Not for nothing, but right now in Seattle, Washington it is Sunny and 66* with a low of 54* and the Dewpoint is 47. It has that outlook for the next week. TIME TO MOVE!

The weather channel has stated that records have been broken all across the tri-state area.

You can't go in your pool during the day because you'll burn in about 15 minutes and it you go to the beach, just trying to cross the sand will burn the bottom of your feet. FUN SUMMER! sweat:drool:

They're saying the high temps yesterday were around 105 to 108 for most of the state but it didn't really seem that bad. I guess the humidity throws off your ability to judge the real temp. I was sweating just as much on an 82 degreed humid day as I was yesterday. Tomorrow looks nice and cool at 91!

With the heat index, north arlington was 120*

To me it felt little more than extremely hot. I can't tell the difference between 100 and 108. Both are f'n hot.

It's wild to think that 88 degrees is 20 degrees cooler. That's like getting socked with a 70* day if it went the other direction, given a 90* average high.

Had to ride the motorcycle to work yesterday. Morning it wasn't bad, and parked it inside work so it wouldnt be 1000 degrees when i sat on it. Ride home was terrible. Our in ground pool was 98* and when you went in, it was so warm, it felt like s**t. When you got and sat on the edge of the concrete border around the pool, it burned your ass. So back into the house with the A/C!

Spent 5 hours on/in the river today. I had to scrub down the outside of the boat(algae buildup occurs faster in the heat) and then scrub the inside as well. There was a steady breeze for 4-1/2 hours but the last 1/2 hour got ugly. Today wasn't nearly as bad and tomorrow looks decent at 91.

not having AC is awful in my nbm/black leather car, on a day last week that was nothing compared to the last few I put a thermometer in it and it read 142 degrees with the windows closed, I'd love to know what it was yesterday

I got stuck in traffic for over an hour on thursday almost all uphill with my tick master and tdp stage 2 clutch which sucks in itself, meanwhile it was probably 115 degrees in my car, all while holding a vase full of flowers in one hand/between my legs the whole time, and had a giant spider crawling up my leg as I took a turn JUST as traffic cleared while I was holding a vase taking a turn and shifting all at the same time. ovearall it was the most miserable trip I have ever made in any car.

I also started working in a shop helping out this week, with fans blowing and being in the shade it's really not all that bad. I have a lot of friends that I know wouldn't be to deal with it but it's not terrible.

In the evenings when the sun goes down and the breeze stops when you're on the bay going 35 mph it feels like you're driving into a mega powered hair dryer. During the day it's been really nice down here though...probably 8 mph wind so it's not bad at all.
