04 silverado AC issue

Left work today and my driverside AC is not working, passengerside works great, but all im getting is burning hot air out the driverside. Everything was working yesterday evening...

So what gives, is this something that i can fix without tearing the dash out? I have no experience with the electronic system of this truck or whatever works the AC controls

dual zone AC? it could be an acuator, happened on my dads 02 monte ss... i was having the same issue on my vette, toar the dash apart to find the acuator was fine, i ended up evacuating most of the freon and addid fresh stuff and its ice cold now... however it wasnt burning hot.

id check ur driver side acuator first tho since u sed burning hot

I have the same on my 05. Does it inconsistantly. I'll be driving and it will be blowing cold then changes to burning hot. Does this about once a month. I found that if I turn the key off then restart the car on it goes right back to blowing cold. Seems more like an electrical issue than a mechanical I would think. Let me know what you find!!!

same issue and same temp fix in my parents 04 avalanche. not sure why but shutting it off and turning it back on seems to work when ever the ac happens to do that.

the AC worked today, Hooray!, so it seems to be a similar issue as you guys have. I will see if it does it again, and if restarting the truck will correct it.

is it dual zone AC? sometimes the actuator motors get out of wack... thru the onboard diagnostics screen in the vette i can reset them, but also by pulling the HVAC fuse

next time it happens... pull the HVAC fuses and reinstall, ull hear the motors all cycle thru their motions, and should reallign things, may have to do it a few times. I read that if u turn the temp dials to fast, thats what messes things up

As already posted,this is a real common problem. You can try running the temp control up/down, and cycling through the bottom, mid, defrost setting.

Pulling the fuse for HVAC alsosometims cure it. Just make sure when you do this you d not touch the controls an let the motos "relearn" the postions.

This seems to fix it for a short time.

FYI,there are some 7 motors under the dash that cntrol the routing and temp, some are easy to get to, other you have to rip the dash apart, and some (like my 2002 trailblazer) the motorswere glued, not screwed in! Making an even bigger project!
