i went to the dmv that is located in the shore mall last week to renew the registration on my wife's car. i had all the info they needed they even asked to see my license. ( now i have been dealing with the same people for almost thirty years, while there are a few new people there but still these people are morons.) so the woman tells me i cant do this with no reason as to why, this isnt a security issue where im trying to get a id. they know we are married, i just renewed my license and registration a couple of months ago. any way she gives me a form stating basically my wife gives her permission that i can have this done, it needs to be notarized. now i should know better than go there but i figured it was easy and shouldn't have been a problem. so this Tuesday i took the ride to rio grande dmv walked in with just the renewal, handed it to the guy and walked out 5 minutes later with her registration. this is just really stupid and i needed to tell it.

Everyone has their DMV horror stories. Mine was 10 years ago when I bought my 91 Firebird from my neighbor across the street at the time. Took about a week till I could get it done with her and I going, abd this was just before the 9-11 turmoil also.

they do registrations on line now all you need to do is use that paper you get in the mail to renue the reg type in a few numbers it costs 2.50 extra you dont need to deal with any bs looking for parking and waiting on line

i dont see how they could do everything online, i know you used to be able to renew your license and reg by mail but now you need a picture id. to get that you need to have your birth certificate, marriage license, credit cards, school id, mail that is not over 2 weeks old showing where you live even though your address hasnt changed in a hundred years. you need to have your mother and father there along with your siblings and any cousins you can find, your first born and all your pictures, they need all that at this location in the shore mall.
while i may have exaggerated just a little here, the point is you can go to almost any other dmv in this state and have an easier time. my short time in fla for the 6 months we were there, it was easy. walked in told them what we needed we were done in less than an hour, me and my wifes dl's transfer car with new title and reg. this one facility is really silly.

It is definantly one of the worst out there.
Last year when I went to get my Camaro registered and tagged, they asked me for the old license plate number. I don't understand why it would matter since I returned the plates OVER 2 YEARS AGO!!! She just gave me an attitude, even as nice as I could be. I had to call my parents to see if I had any pictures online or laying around of my car with the old number. My parents even asked why they needed it since they were never asked before. Finally I realized I had a couple on my phone that I was barely able to make out. When I handed it to her she had a ****** smirk on, and said see, that's all......Woman or not I wanted to knock the fat out of her cheeks.
It wasent my first time re-registering/gettign new license plate for the same vehicle I've owned, and I never had to do it.

NY DMV sucks worse. No temporary registration/plates only "in transit" tags which are a pita to get! They are also closed on Saturday so the only option of getting a car on the weekend and driving it back to a different state(other then Massachusetts because they don't accept NY's in transit tags) is to do it illegally or have it towed. Unless your willing to spend two weekends buying one car...

That's why I LOVE illinois plates/license :) If you've had no tickets they send you this nice letter saying you can renew your license online and they just send you a sticker to put on the back :) You can do everything online too :)

The DMV is no better at the Turnersville location. They have improved since moving from their other location.
