Bottle Warmer

pickin some stuff up off a kid tonight and he has a bottle warmer. is a bottle warmer needed with a genral kit?

If you're running a wet kit, I think its a must, or you can run a NANO. Bottle pressure will dictate your A/F ratio. If you're tuned to run at lets say 1000 psi and on a cool day your bottle pressure is at 800 then you will be running rich leaving alot of power on the table and potentially hurt the motor. If its a dry kit then it will just help you get the most of what ever you're jetted for.

Most warmers can get pretty hot! The warmer I have can reach up to 300* but its not so much an optimum temperature rather an optimum pressure. A half empty bottle will require more heat to achieve desired pressure than a full bottle would so its hard to gauge bottle pressure off of its temp. That being said, DynoTune Nitorus makes a bottle warmer kit that has a pressure cycling switch in the main feed line. The switch will turn the warmer on or off depending on its pressure.

I know I'm about two weeks late but I'll throw in my two cents anyway.

A few years back I had a wet kit on a 350. Without the bottle being kept at (whatever the PSI was ideal at, I don't recall... 1200 PSI is sticking in my head for some reason though) ideal pressure the nitrous would actually surge because it was coming out partially as a liquid and partially as a gas. It was the worst feeling in the world. The first few weeks I had filled my bath tub with hot water and stuck the bottle in it to get the pressure up and that worked for just ripping up and down the road but eventually I had to buy a bottle warmer.
